Discover the key characters and factions in Yakuza: Like a Dragon, including the Arakawa Family, Ijin Three, Bleach Japan, Omi Alliance, and returning Yakuza protagonists.

This guide provides an overview of the various characters and factions encountered in Yakuza: Like a Dragon, beyond the main party members.

Nick Ogata

A business-savvy entrepreneur based in Kamurocho. Ichiban befriends him shortly after returning to Kamurocho after his prison sentence. Apparently Nick is very into mascot characters (yuru-chara).

Arakawa Family

A subsidiary of the Tojo Clan before Ichiban's prison sentence.

Arakawa Masumi

The patriarch, and Ichiban's (adoptive) father/boss. As a child, his mother was abusive and he witnessed his father's death. He wandered and made a life starting a yakuza family in Kamurocho as a young adult. At the beginning of the game, he asks Ichiban to take the fall for a crime Sawashiro commits.

During Ichiban's prison sentence, the Kamurocho 3K strategy takes place where Masumi is said to have leaked important information about the Clan to authorities resulting in the Clan's expulsion from the city. When Ichiban leaves prison, Arakawa and his family have joined the Omi Alliance.

Arakawa Masato

Masumi's son who has had poor health due to certain circumstances shortly after birth. Due to this, he has been wheelchair-bound all his life. He is not part of the yakuza, but lives as a civilian (katagi). Prior to the beginning of the game, Ichiban has always been Masato's servant/guard of sorts. In the early chapters, Masato uses an American-made drug that allows him to stand for a few hours.

When Ichiban exits prison, he learns that Masato has died, finally succumbing to his illness. After Ichiban moves to Ijincho and meets Bleach Japan, he sees a picture of Aoki Ryo in their office and says it's Masato.

Sawashiro Jo

A captain of the Arakawa Family, he has always hated Ichiban because Masumi presumably favoured Ichiban despite his failings to do simple tasks such as collecting protection money. He is adept at many types of weapons. Allegedly he commits a crime on new year's eve 2000, and Masumi asks Ichiban to confess to the crime and go to jail in Sawashiro's place.

The Ijin Three

The three major syndicates: Seiryu Clan, Geomijul, and Liumang Gang form The Great Wall of Muscle in Ijincho making it near impossible for outside groups (i.e. Omi Alliance) to gain footing in their city.

Hoshino Ryohei

Leader of the Seiryu Clan. He has a very old tie to Arakawa Masumi.

Totsuka

He runs an elder home facility called Hidamari Castle. Ichiban and his group infiltrate the facility to save Nanoha's father, discovering some very dark secrets about how they make profit there. Problematic, repeat offender :<

Takabe

A captain of the Seiryu Clan, he is very formal and business-like. But cares deeply for his subordinates. Not problematic. :)

Seong-hui

Leader of Geomijul. According to Saeko, Seong-hui is a prideful woman.

Bleach Japan

A non-profit organization started by Aoki Ryo, to "cleanse all the gray zones" of Japan.

Aoki Ryo

The founder of the organization, and currently the governor of Tokyo (after Ichiban's prison sentence). He aims to become Secretary General, amassing power to change all of Japan to match his own vision.

Ogasawara

The current head of Bleach Japan, since Aoki became governor. He's basically Aoki's servant and a Chatty Cathy when cornered.

Kume

The leader of Bleach Japan's Yokohama branch. Has no problems resorting to violence to get his way, despite preaching "cleaning the gray zones of society". A pawn in the bigger scheme of things. Very annoying but easy to forget. Dangerously so.

Omi Alliance

These guys just don't go away, ugh.

Ishioda Reiji

A potential lietenant of the Omi Alliance, captian of the Ishioda Family. He likes to use guns. Love the voice actor behind the guy (Hayami Sho!), zero good-guy potential tho.

Tendou Yosuke

First lieutenant of the Omi Alliance. Former boxer. Problematic straight to the end.

Who Runs the World? Girls.

Here be the female NPCs that run some services in Ijinchou. Ichiban can have romance substories with them.

Sumire

Runs Romance Workshop, south of Hello Work.

Ririka

Runs the job change service at Hello Work.

Miyakoshi

Runs the counter of the Ounabara Vocational School.

Iroha

Works at Survive bar, relive party chats by talking to her.

Oldies but Goldies

Some folks from previous Yakuza games. Skip this section if you don't even wanna know.

Osamu Kashiwagi

Thank you, Yakuza Fandom Wiki for helping me realize that this guy is running Survive bar * keyboard smash and facepalm\* It completely escaped my notice.

Kiryu Kazuma

Our favourite protagonist from Y0-6. Unlucky bugger has the misfortune of being repeatedly dragged into yakuza problems.

Majima Goro

Our favourite nutjob from Y0-6.

Saejima Taiga

Since Y5.

Dojima Daigo

Not playable in previous games, but he's been around since Y0 (as a child, via substory if I remember correctly). (Former) Sixth chairman of the Tojo Clan.
