The Megapithecus is one of the three powerful bosses in Ark: Survival Evolved, found within the Volcano cave on The Island. Defeating it is crucial for progression, especially for accessing higher-tier content and obtaining powerful artifacts.

Stats / Weaknesses:

• High Health: The Megapithecus possesses a massive health pool, especially on Alpha difficulty.
• Melee Damage: Its powerful swipes can deal significant damage and knock back players.
• Ranged Attack: It can throw rocks, which deal area-of-effect damage.
• Summons Minions: The Megapithecus periodically summons Megapithecus babies and potentially other creatures to aid it.
• Weak to Fire: While not a drastic weakness, fire damage can be effective.
• Vulnerable to Ranged Attacks: Its large size makes it an easy target for ranged weaponry.
• Susceptible to Torpor: Tranquilizer weapons and darts can be used to temporarily incapacitate it, though this is more effective on lower difficulties.

Phases:

1. Phase 1: Approach and Initial Engagement: Upon entering the arena, the Megapithecus will be passive. As players approach or attack, it will become aggressive.
2. Phase 2: Minion Summoning: The Megapithecus will periodically summon smaller versions of itself (babies) and sometimes other creatures to attack the players.
3. Phase 3: Increased Aggression: As its health depletes, the Megapithecus will become more aggressive, increasing its attack frequency and power. It may also use its rock-throwing attack more often.
4. Phase 4: Desperation: In its final moments, the Megapithecus will fight with all its might, making it a dangerous final push.

Strategy:

• Tame a Powerful Army: Bring a strong army of high-level dinosaurs, focusing on those with high health and damage output. Rexes, Spinos, Therizinos, and even high-level Gigas can be effective. Consider bringing some with good ranged capabilities like Yutyrannus for their roar buff.
• Utilize Ranged Weapons: Longneck rifles with tranquilizer darts can be used to inflict torpor, especially on Gamma and Beta. For damage, use high-quality primitive or mastercraft/ascendant rifles or rocket launchers.
• Bring Plenty of Ammo and Healing: Ensure you have an ample supply of ammunition for all your weapons and plenty of healing items (medkits, Stimberries, etc.).
• Mounts for Mobility: Consider bringing mounts that offer good mobility or defensive capabilities, such as Argy's for carrying smaller dinos or Therizinos for their versatility.
• Beware of the Arena: The arena is filled with hazards, including ledges and environmental dangers. Be mindful of your positioning to avoid falling or being overwhelmed.
• Focus Fire: Coordinate with your tribe or allies to focus fire on the Megapithecus and its minions to efficiently clear the threats.
• Artifacts: Remember to collect the various artifacts scattered around the arena before or after the fight, as they are required for summoning other bosses.
