Guide to Bastion's Burstone Quarry, including defeating Rattle-tails, Gasfellas, Sir Lunky, and finding the Harp Guitar.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Walk forward into the Burstone Quarry. You will witness the ground rumble and shake.
  2. 2
The Burstone Quarry is home to Rattle-tails, sneaky monsters that attack by burrowing underground and throwing rocks. You must wait for them to return to the surface before killing them; they actively run away when pursued.
  3. 3
Follow the trail to find some Gasfellas fighting Pincushions. The Gasfellas are on your side, so help them out by killing the Pincushions and other monsters in the quarry.
  4. 4
Press the switch to lower the rock spires, opening up a new path.
  5. 5
Hit the next switch and continue down the path.
  6. 6
Near the third switch, a Lunkhead is trapped inside a circle of rocks. Attack the defenseless monster from the other side of the cage instead of pressing the switch to release it.
  7. 7
Move forward and grab the Health Tonic next to the switch.
  8. 8
Defeat the pair of Rattle-tails up ahead.
  9. 9
Walk past the switch to find another Health Tonic at a dead end.
  10. 10
Hit the switch here, which opens up the southeast and northeast pathways.
  11. 11
There's nothing to find northeast aside from a batch of Stinkeyes, so take the southeast road.
  12. 12
Press the switch along the way and stop by near the Arsenal.
  13. 13
Clear out all the Pincushions and Wallflowers positioned around the mine track.
  14. 14
Go forward until you reach a fork. To the west is a path that leads to Something Stringy.
  15. 15
Back at the fork, continue south.
  16. 16
Hit the switch to rearrange some rock spires, allowing you to progress further.
  17. 17
As the stone path starts to turn red, you'll find more rock spires and enemies. Clear out the Pincushions before hitting the switch; the path opens up again.
  18. 18
This process of hitting switches and lowering rocks continues a couple more times until you reach an expanded section of the quarry.
  19. 19
This area is home to an enlarged Lunkhead named Sir Lunky. His mannerisms are identical to regular Lunkheads, although he has much more health. Employ the same strategies used for regular Lunkheads to defeat Sir Lunky.
  20. 20
Defeat the Pincushions and Rattle-tails that appear after Sir Lunky is defeated.
  21. 21
The exit to the area is at the southern side of the room, but first make sure to grab Something Course on the north end.
  22. 22
The Kid finds Zulf at the end of the quarry. Talk to him and discuss the Fractured Monument.
  23. 23
Press the switch to recover the Shard and walk towards the exit.
  24. 24
As Zulf mentioned, his countrymen will never stop in preventing the Kid from rebuilding the Bastion. This becomes clear when you return home to find the town being ransacked by the Ura.
  25. 25
When you walk towards the town entrance, you will be ambushed by a couple Ura warriors. The blue ones have large halberds and can teleport around the room.
  26. 26
The entrance is sealed shut, so take the back entrance.
  27. 27
Walk down the rainbow trail and go southwest at the fork to find a Harp Guitar.
  28. 28
Continue south at the intersection to reach the Skyway.
  29. 29
Once you reach the center of town, you find that your four pets are holding the fort up. Help them out by taking down the waves of Ura that appear.
  30. 30
Your pets can die in combat, but it is not believed that anything significant comes from it aside from Rucks commenting on the fallen comrades.
  31. 31
Talk to Rucks once the Uras retreat and discuss the Harp Guitar.
  32. 32
The Ura have kidnapped Zia, so you must exact some revenge for their wrongdoings.
  33. 33
The Shard will patch up the Bastion quite nicely, but there is still one final Shard that can fully revitalize the city.
  34. 34
Make any necessary pit stops before heading off again.
Tips
  • Wait for Rattle-tails to surface before attacking, as they burrow underground.
  • Help the Gasfellas by defeating the Pincushions and other monsters in the quarry.
  • Attack the trapped Lunkhead from outside its rocky cage rather than releasing it.
  • Take the southeast path after the third switch, as the northeast path only contains Stinkeyes.
  • Clear Pincushions around the mine track before proceeding.
  • Defeat Sir Lunky using the same strategies as regular Lunkheads, but expect him to have significantly more health.
  • Collect Something Course from the north end of Sir Lunky's area before exiting.
  • When ambushed by Ura at The Bastion's entrance, take the back entrance.
  • Blue Ura warriors can teleport and wield large halberds.
  • Collect the Harp Guitar by going southwest at the first fork after taking the back entrance.
  • Assist your pets in defending the town center from waves of Ura.
