Master the Idolator Sol boss fight in Borderlands 4 with this detailed guide. Learn his attacks, phases, and the strategy to exploit his weaknesses and claim victory.

Stats / Weaknesses:

• Armor: Bullets bounce off unless he's made vulnerable.
• Vulnerability Trigger: Throwing a Locust container from a green pylon bomb at him.
• Critical Hit Spots: Head, and any green bubbles that appear after being hit by the Locust container.
• Minion Absorption: If Sol absorbs a minion, he regains armor. Killing the minion first stuns him and leaves him vulnerable.

Phases:

1. Phase 1: Sol uses Shoulder Charge, Pylon Bombs, Spike Grenade, Locust Beam, and Whirling Blade. Avoid attacks by moving and side-dashing; jump over the Whirling Blade.
2. Phase Transition: Sol uses Locust Lightning, blocking parts of the arena with lightning strikes. Move to the safe section quickly.
3. Phase 2: Introduces Green Fissure and Spike Slam. He also uses two sets of Pylon Bombs, with a green one in the second set.
4. Phase Transition: Sol uses Locust Lightning again, with smaller safe areas.
5. Phase 3: The arena becomes more cramped with Locust dust around the edges. He uses three sets of Pylon Bombs, and fissures last longer.

Strategy:

• When Idolator Sol uses his Pylon Bombs, look for the green one. It will have a Locust container you can grapple to. Grab it before it explodes and toss it at Sol.
• If the container hits him, a part of his body will become susceptible to damage, often showing green bubbles that act as critical hit spots.
• Always aim for his head, as it's a prime critical hit target.
• If Sol tries to absorb a minion to regain armor, you have two choices: kill the minion first to stun him and keep him vulnerable, or let him absorb it and then re-apply the Locust container vulnerability.
• In Phase 1, most attacks can be dodged by moving or side-dashing. The Whirling Blade requires a double jump to avoid.
• During phase transitions, pay close attention to the Locust Lightning. Move immediately to the safe, un-darkened areas.
• In Phase 2, the new attacks (Green Fissure, Spike Slam) are manageable. Dodge the fissure and side-dash away from the Spike Slam after he uses Shoulder Charge.
• Phase 3 makes the arena smaller. Focus on exposing Sol's body and managing any minions to prevent him from re-arming.
• After defeating Sol, grab your loot, including Idolator Sol’s Bolt. Enter the next room for a red chest, then use the fast travel to return to Outbounders HQ to finish the mission.
