Your Castlevania Requiem walkthrough continues! Learn how to defeat Salome, Frozen Half, Blood Skeleton, and the mighty Galamoth with expert tips and strategies.
Alright, we're nearing the end of this section of the castle, and things are about to get interesting. The room right after the entrance has two paths up top. We're gonna take the one on the right first. You'll find a save room, and just beyond that, another room. Make sure to grab the Magic Missile and Buffalo Star from that last room before you save. Once you're done, head back out and take the path to the left to keep pushing forward.
Next up, you'll run into two witches on a broom – they're called Salome. When you get close, Salome pulls out a shield that blocks everything. She'll also toss out a gray cat that charges at you and shoots energy balls. She's not super tough, but you can't just wail on her with your regular weapon because of that shield. You'll need to get creative: try using spells like Soul Steal or Summon Spirit. If you've got consumable damage items, those work too. A really neat trick is using the Cat-Eye Circlet, which you should have. It actually heals you whenever a cat attacks you. So, when Salome throws down her cat, it'll heal you instead!
The room after the Salomes is a larger one filled with bats. There are paths on the top left and top right. Let's take the left path first. Remember this room? It's where those slug-like enemies were in the normal castle. This time, you'll face another Salome and a blue woman called the Frozen Half. She has a powerful attack, but she doesn't use it often enough to be a real threat. You can usually take her down before she becomes a problem.
The next room is the spike room again. Good news: you can either use the Spike Breaker armor or your Mist Form to get through safely. Either way works!
This next area is pretty straightforward. Go left, then jump up into the opening in the ceiling. Follow that path all the way to the right until you hit a dead end. You should have picked up a couple of Karma Coins, Resist Fire, Resist Thunder, an Elixir, and the Library Card (check the walls for that one!).
Once you've found the Elixir and Library Card at the dead end, backtrack to the room with the bats. This time, take the path on the right side of the room.
Get ready, because this room is packed with Blood Skeletons blocking your way. The room after that is small but important – it holds a Life Max Up and a Heart Max Up.
Keep going, and the room after the upgrades will have a single Frozen Half. Then, you'll encounter a few sections that are basically the lava areas from the normal castle. The first one has skeletons and more Frozen Halfs. The next section has a drop-down area with some pots. Smash them for a Shield Potion and an Attack Potion. To the right of where you found those, there's a room with the Necklace of J. It's an old-school item for Alucard, but honestly, it only gives +5 defense. The Moonstone and Mystic Pendant are way better.
Leave the Necklace of J room, jump out of the hole, and continue right. The next room will have more skeletons and Frozen Halfs.
The room after that offers several paths. Take the one on the right first. You'll find a lonely lamp with a $1 coin. Now, drop down and take the path to the left. Skip past the save room and head into the next room. Here, you'll find a Diamond – a Woman's Best Friend. Remember, don't sell it to the Librarian just yet! Leave this room and save your game. You'll definitely want to be prepared for the boss battle coming up.
GALAMOTH
Alright, here we are, facing one of the biggest baddies himself. To make this fight way easier, equip the Beryl Circlet. Like other circlets, it heals you when you're hit by lightning attacks, and guess what? Galamoth uses lightning from his rod!
Galamoth is HUGE. You can hit him pretty much anywhere except his weapon. Don't expect to do much damage per hit, maybe 1, 5, or 8 points. The real strategy is to combine the Beryl Circlet with relentless attacking. Don't be afraid to take hits, especially when you need to heal. Just get into the path of his lightning attack, and you'll be fully healed.
If you want to squeeze out a bit more damage, try getting onto the higher platform. When Galamoth is still on screen, you can start hurling knives or use the Agunei sub-weapon. His head is his weak spot, so you'll do more damage there than at his feet. The downside is you'll be more exposed to his black spheres. You can dodge those with Mist Form, and when he stops attacking, switch back to the knife sub-weapon. If you're low on hearts, the Blood Cloak can restock them. You can do the same for HP: keep the Beryl Circlet on, and any lightning hits will heal you.
Just be patient – Galamoth has a massive HP pool, so this fight will take some time.
After you finally beat Galamoth, you'll find a room with a Heart Max Up and a Life Max Up. Keep moving through the next few rooms linearly, and you'll end up in a dead-end room containing the Ruby Circlet and the Gas Cloud relic. With that, we're all done with this entire area of the castle. It's time to head back to the Underground Caverns where we detoured earlier.
