Learn the unique rules and strategies for Clash Royale's Touchdown mode. Get tips on scoring, defending, and understanding special troop restrictions to dominate this exciting 2v2 Draft format.
Clash Royale's game modes are super cool because they shake things up way beyond the usual 1v1, 2v2, and Challenges you're probably used to. These modes come with totally new rules and fresh ways to win. The first of these unique modes actually dropped way back in the October 2017 update!
Touch Down
Right now, Touch Down is only playable in a 2v2 Draft format, which means you and a teammate are up against another pair. Your main goal here is to get any of your troops all the way to the opponent's side of the arena. You do this by getting them across that thick white line at the very end. At the same time, you've gotta be super vigilant and stop their troops from crossing your own thick white line. Scoring a touchdown gets you a crown, and the first team to snag three crowns wins the whole match. If the clock runs out before anyone hits three crowns, whoever has the most touchdowns wins. And if it's still tied after that, you'll head into a Sudden Death round to decide the victor. If it's still a tie after Sudden Death, well, it's a tie!
There are some pretty important special rules for certain troops and spells in Touch Down. For instance, you can't use the Hog Rider at all in this mode. Also, cards like the Miner and Goblin Barrel have restrictions – you can only deploy them on your own half of the field. This is to stop players from just instantly winning by chucking a Goblin Barrel straight over the enemy line or using the Miner to drop troops right on their doorstep.
