Walkthrough
- 1On the title screen, select 'New Game' to start or 'Load Game' to continue from one of four save slots on memory card slot 1.
- 2If loading, you'll see the save name, completion percentage, lives, crystals, and gems. Choosing 'Cancel' allows you to create a new save.
- 3Starting a 'New Game' shows an intro (skippable) and an introductory level.
- 4Progress through the intro level to reach the Warp Room.
- 5In the Warp Room, you can enter any of the five levels.

Playing the Game:
Navigate levels, defeat enemies, and collect items like Wumpa Fruit and break boxes. Collecting 100 Wumpa Fruit grants an extra life. Boxes contain Wumpa Fruit, lives, and other helpful items, but some can be harmful.
Box Types:
- Normal Box: Contains a Wumpa Fruit.
- ? Box: Contains extra lives or Wumpa Fruit.
- Bounce Box: Has dark brown vertical lines. Jumping on it yields a Wumpa Fruit and bounces you up. They break after a few bounces. Jumping as you hit a Bounce Box increases bounce height.
- Aku Aku Box: Features a mask. Breaking it reveals an Aku Aku mask, which acts as health. One mask protects from one hit. A second mask allows two hits. A third grants temporary invincibility. Aku Aku does not protect against instant-kill hazards.
- C Box: Marked with a 'C'. Breaking it creates a checkpoint (an auto-save point you restart from on death) (a save point within a level).
- Crash Box: Features Crash's picture; contains a life.
- Arrow Box: Marked with an upward arrow. Jumping on it bounces you up; pressing X during the bounce increases height. Can be broken by spinning.
- Reinforced Box: Wooden with metal reinforcement. Requires a body slam to break.
- TNT Box: Red with 'TNT'. Spinning it causes immediate explosion. Jumping on it starts a three-second timer before explosion.
- Nitro Box: Green with 'Nitro'. Explodes on contact. Cannot be broken by the player alone.
- Green ! Box: Green with a yellow exclamation point. Does not break but destroys all Nitro Boxes in the level when activated.
- ! Box: Metal with an exclamation point. Cannot be broken but activating it fills in white outlined boxes or platforms in the level.
- Metal Box: Plain metal boxes that do nothing on their own but can crush the player.
Controls:
- Up: Move forward (away from screen).
- Down: Move back (towards screen).
- Left/Right: Move left/right.
- X: Jump.
- O / R1: Crouch (standing) or Slide (running).
- Triangle: Inventory.
- Square: Spin attack.
- Start: Pause game.
- O/R1 + Directional Buttons: Slide and jump (when running) or crouch and jump (when standing).
