The maps in Dead by Daylight are more than just backdrops; they are intricate playgrounds filled with interactable elements that are crucial for both survivor evasion and killer pursuit. Understanding these key features is vital for navigating the Entity's Realm effectively.

Generators: The Heart of the Trial

Generators are the primary objective for survivors. They are scattered across the map and must be repaired to power the exit gates. Killers aim to patrol and defend these generators, while survivors work to complete them as quickly as possible.

Pallets: Survivor's Lifeline

Pallets are wooden barriers that survivors can drop to impede the killer's progress. A well-timed pallet drop can stun the killer, creating a significant distance for the survivor. Killers can break pallets to remove this obstacle.

Windows: Escape Routes and Choke Points

Windows are found in buildings and structures. Survivors can vault through them to escape a killer or to gain a tactical advantage. Killers can block windows or chase survivors through them, albeit at a slower pace.

Hooks: The Killer's Tools of Sacrifice

Hooks are scattered throughout the map, often in clusters or near generators. Killers pick up downed survivors and place them on hooks to sacrifice them to the Entity. Survivors can be unhooked by their teammates.

Breakable Walls: Killer's Path Creation

Locker: Hiding Spots and Traps

Lockers are small compartments where survivors can hide to evade the killer. Killers can interact with lockers to check for hiding survivors. Rushing out of a locker can sometimes surprise a killer, but it's a risky maneuver.

The Basement: A Dangerous Sanctuary

The Basement is a specific area, usually located in the center of a map, that contains multiple hooks and often a generator. It's a high-risk, high-reward area, as it offers many hooks but can also be a trap for survivors if the killer patrols it effectively.

Doors and Gates: Exit and Entry Points

Doors can be opened and closed by both survivors and killers. Exit gates are the final objective for survivors and are located at opposite ends of the map. They require power from completed generators to be opened.

Obstacles and Cover

Beyond the main interactables, maps are filled with various obstacles like rocks, trees, and debris that provide cover, break line of sight, and influence chase dynamics. Survivors use these for evasion, while killers use them to predict movement.

For Killers:

• Break pallets and walls to create shorter chase paths.

• Anticipate survivor movements around windows and pallets.
