Chapter 23

Option 1 – Rush Deviant: If you choose to rush the deviant, you must press button sequences correctly to avoid being shot. Failing this can lead to Connor dying or the deviant being destroyed by SWAT, both with cross-chapter impact. Successfully reaching Simon allows you to probe his memory, unlocking information about Jericho and increasing software instability. Simon will then self-destruct, unlocking 'Connor Was Traumatised'.

Option 2 – Stay in Cover (press the cover button to crouch behind walls or objects): If you stay in cover, Simon is destroyed by SWAT, and Hank and Connor survive.

After dealing with Simon, head into the kitchen, located between the broadcast room entrance and the stairs to the roof, behind the central desk.

Interrogate Androids: In the kitchen, you must identify the deviant among three identical androids. The deviant will occasionally glance at you, unlike the others who stare straight ahead. It will become more visibly uncomfortable as you question it.

If you haven't found the deviant, you can choose BLUFF, TORTURE, VIOLENCE, or PROBE MEMORY, but this may end the interrogation with 'Deviant Not Found'.

Using BLUFF, TORTURE, VIOLENCE, or PROBE MEMORY can cause the deviant to reveal itself, leading to 'Deviant Attacks'. The deviant will shove you, pin you to a counter with a knife, and steal a component from your chest. You will have 1:45 to replace the component.

To address the knife, look left and grab it to pull it from your hand.

Recover the component by crawling along the floor, hitting the correct button sequences before the timer expires.

If you lose too much time or don't chase the deviant immediately, SWAT may destroy it (cross-chapter impact), the deviant might kill an officer from the hostage situation (decreasing public opinion), or Connor and Hank might survive with decreased public opinion and increased software instability.

Chase Deviant: Catch up to the deviant in the corridor to make a choice that ends the chapter.

Option 1 – Rush Deviant: Attacking the deviant results in several officers being killed. The deviant kills the officer from the hostage situation, then self-destructs. Connor and Hank survive, increasing software instability but decreasing public opinion.

Option 2 – Protect Hank: Choose to 'Save Hank' to shield him with your body. The deviant shoots Connor, and SWAT destroys the deviant (cross-chapter impact). The officer from the hostage situation still dies, lowering public opinion. Connor sacrificing himself for Hank increases your reputation with him, but decreases software instability.

Option 3 – Take Gun: Grab a gun from an officer and shoot the deviant. This prevents anyone from being killed, including the officer from the hostage situation. The massacre is prevented, and your reputation with Hank increases.

If you run out of time and do not pick up the component the deviant stole, the deviant gets away and Connor shuts down (cross-chapter impact), decreasing both software instability and your reputation with Hank.
