As you are going out of the Partition Screen Room, the Man in Dark will appear from the cracking hole where you found the Peeking Child ghost.

Be aware of the screens, which can be annoying obstacles during the fight.

You can either beat him to collect Spirit Points or escape to the Cloth Hallway until he stops chasing you.
