Ingots and alloys are the backbone of metalworking in Fields of Mistria, essential for crafting durable tools, sturdy armor, and vital components for farm and town upgrades. These materials are primarily derived from ores mined from various locations, most notably The Mines.

The most basic metal ingot is Iron Ingot. This is smelted from Iron Ore, which is commonly found in the early to mid-levels of The Mines. Players will need a Furnace to smelt Iron Ore into Iron Ingots. These ingots are crucial for crafting early-game tools like the Iron Axe and Iron Pickaxe, which are necessary for gathering more advanced resources. They are also used in numerous crafting recipes for farm equipment and basic building materials.

As players venture deeper into The Mines, they will encounter more valuable ores. Copper Ore and Silver Ore become available, allowing for the creation of Copper Ingots and Silver Ingots, respectively. Copper is often used in crafting electrical components or decorative items, while Silver Ingots are required for more refined tools and jewelry. The quality of the ore can influence the quality of the resulting ingot, so investing in better mining tools and exploring higher mine levels is beneficial.

The v0.15.0 update introduced the final mine levels, including The Ruins, which likely contain rare and powerful ores. These could include materials like Gold Ore or even unique, magical ores that can be smelted into potent alloys. Breaking the Void Seal at Level 80 is the prerequisite for accessing these new areas and their associated resources. The passive skill Void Sight, unlocked after this event, may also allow for the harvesting of new ore types from previously explored mine levels.

Alloys are created by combining different types of ingots, often in a specialized crafting station or through specific recipes. For example, Bronze is typically made by combining Copper Ingots and Tin Ingots. Bronze is a stronger metal than iron and is used in crafting mid-tier tools and armor. Steel, a stronger alloy, might require Iron Ingots and Coal, and is essential for high-level equipment and structural components.

Using a Copper Pickaxe to mine Iron Ore is possible, but a higher-tier pickaxe will yield more ore and mine faster. The quality of ingots and alloys directly impacts the quality of the crafted items, so always strive to use the best available materials.
