Forza Motorsport 7 is the seventh installment in the Forza Motorsport series and the tenth main title in the Forza franchise. Development was initially hinted at by wheel manufacturer Fanatec in December 2016, showcasing improved wheel support.

The game was officially confirmed at E3 2017, with a release date of October 3, 2017, for Xbox One and Windows 10. A special Xbox One X launch edition was released on November 7, 2017. Both PC and Xbox One X versions support native 4K resolution at 60 frames per second. The title is also playable on Xbox Series X/S and Windows 11 via backward compatibility.

As of September 15, 2021, Forza Motorsport 7 and its DLC were delisted from the Microsoft Store and removed from Xbox Game Pass due to the game reaching its end-of-life status. Players who owned the game or any DLC before this date retain access. Game Pass users who purchased DLC received a token via Xbox Messages to continue playing.

Gameplay changes

General

• Forza Motorsport 7 features over 700 Forzavista cars and 30 racing environments with more than 200 track ribbons. A dynamic weather system is also included for certain tracks.
• Players can customize their Drivatar's gender, body type, and clothing, with over 375 unlockable Driver Gear sets available.
• The Forza Driver's Cup single-player campaign consists of six championships across various performance classes. Players earn points per race to unlock new cars and Drivatar customization sets, with better rewards for increasing their tier level.
• An 'friction assist' is available to minimize speed loss when driving off-track or on wet roads.
• Mods, driver gear, and badges can be purchased from the Race Shop.

Cars

• Volkswagen cars return after their absence in Forza Horizon 3.
• Toyota and Lexus production cars are excluded for the first time in the series, though Toyota race cars and pre-tuned models like the Toyota Hilux Arctic Trucks AT38 are featured.
• The Speciality Dealer offers discounted rare cars for limited periods.

Customization

• More widebody kits are available than in Forza Horizon 3, including fictional Turn 10 Studios designs and professional motorsport-inspired aero enhancements. Some are exclusive to Forza Edition cars.
