About Lorestones

Lorestones, also referred to as Runestones or Runes, are the sole collectible in Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. They are crucial as they are the only missable items in the game. Collecting all of them awards the 'Stories From the North' Gold PlayStation Trophy, which is also missable. Successfully gathering all Lorestones contributes to a Platinum Trophy upon game completion. Furthermore, finding every Lorestone triggers a vision from Druth near the game's end, revealing a significant secret that re-contextualizes the entire story.

Lorestones will be detailed within the game's walkthrough. To collect a Lorestone, approach it and press and hold the R2 button when the circle of runes appears. A successfully collected Lorestone will have its Rune turn white, and Druth will share a related Norse mythology story. Staying close to the Lorestone is necessary to hear the full story, though listening is not required for collection; activation is sufficient.

The order of runes within each section is indicated by white dots. The first section has 4 runes. The first rune collected in any section becomes the first rune in that section's ring. If a rune is missed, it will appear later in the sequence, and if revisited, it will update to reflect the next uncollected rune in order. This system ensures Druth's stories are heard chronologically, regardless of collection order. Missed runes in previous sections remain red and appear as the last rune in that section's ring.

Collected runes carry over across playthroughs. However, as the rune circle doesn't explicitly show missed Lorestones, starting a new game can sometimes be simpler, especially if multiple runes are missed. If only one Lorestone is missed, a second playthrough allows focusing solely on that area, potentially rushing through others. The collected runes will persist, but finding the specific missed Lorestone might still require collecting all in its area.
