Complete walkthrough for Homeworld 2 Mission 6: The Karos Graveyard. Learn how to defeat the movers and complete the mission objectives.
Walkthrough
- 1First, dock all of your fighters, bombers, and corvettes into the holding bays. Place all but one of your pulsar corvettes in the Mothership (MS). Leave only one pulsar squadron out in space. Retire all non-torpedo frigates and build the maximum allowed frigates as torpedo frigates.
- 2Next, send one refinery to the closest resources. If you have four, send two there. Then, send one refinery to each of the remaining resource patches on the map. Don't worry, nothing will attack them unless there's nothing else within half the map. Send 1/3 of your collectors to the first patch, 1/3 to the next, and 1/3 to the last. Of the last 1/3 of collectors, send one to about 3/4 of the way to the third patch. On the right side of the map, you will see a few hulks. Along the right, there is a small gap. Move the collector to about that distance but in the middle of the middle passage. Don't send it directly to the gap in the dots.
- 3You will be told of incoming movers, which means it's time to fetch. Grab your pulsar corvette and when the movers are about halfway to you, send the pulsar right across the entire length of the map. As long as it stays outside of the movers' range, it will be fine, as it can move faster than them.
- 4Once your whole fleet of missile frigates is ready, send them to about halfway. There are two hulks opposing each other right in the middle of the map; send them there. When your pulsar is almost to its destination, go into waypoint mode and create a 180-degree half-circle large enough that the movers don't cut the corner and pummel it.
- 5Your MS will hyperspace to where you just told your missile frigates to go. When your pulsar starts getting closer to your torpedo frigates, make sure its path crosses them. As the movers pass the missiles, order them to attack the movers. Order aggressive tactics. You won't destroy many because they have massive health for a corvette-sized ship: 5000 hit points! Keep bringing them past the torpedo frigates until the MS turns up. Now take your little pulsar squadron close enough for the new sets of movers that appear from the right to follow as well. Continue to bring them past the torpedo frigates until you waste them all. As the MS turns up, you will be given information on a damaged mover. Take your corvettes near it so that the two active movers near the damaged one will chase as well.
- 6Remember that collector that is sitting near the gap in the dots in the middle of the map? Send it to collect it. As soon as you are given the anti-mover technology, research it.
- 7Soon, the MS will hyper again. When the research is done, launch all of your pulsars from the MS and begin destroying them. Move your torpedo frigates to the MS and all of your collectors to repair it. It will only take 5 or 6 collectors, so any left can repair your torpedo frigates. The chase is now over. The movers will target the MS 90% of the time, and the torpedo frigates and pulsars this time are 5% each. But the biggest problem is that despite the research decreasing their health to 1000, they still do tons of damage.
- 8Any pulsars that get damaged (yellow) should be told to dock. Just keep destroying movers until the Mothership moves. Repeat MOVES with NORMAL drives to the end hulk. When it gets there, you will get a debriefing and a notification that the movers are now offline, meaning they stop moving and become sitting ducks. You will then proceed to hyper out.
Tips
- Thanks go to 'Mosc' of the GameFAQ's HW2 forum for his idea of 'fetch' with the movers. It's a better idea than the original strategy.
