Walkthrough
- 1Enjoy the initial cutscenes depicting Rost's climb and Aloy's early struggles.
- 2After falling into a cave, take either tunnel to a gap partially blocked by stalactites.
- 3Use crouch to move through the opening into an old-world lab.
- 4Continue left down stairs and through a vault door.
- 5Proceed through the next room and up stairs to a spotlighted corpse.
- 6Drop down and interact with the corpse to obtain the Focus.
- 7Toggle the Focus on and off by pressing Focus button. The Focus is an instrumental device that will allow you to see things others can't.
- 8Go upstairs to a closed door. Use the Focus and look right, following pipes, to see a Code Nexus and a Holo Lock control terminal.
- 9Circle back to the room with controls and approach the Holo Lock. Match the circle on the Holo Lock to the circle on the Code Nexus to unlock the door.
- 10Head through the now-open door. Scan the datapoint on the left wall and press interact to play [AD08] For Director Evans.
- 11Continue through the next door and down stairs.
- 12Head forward to find a corpse with another datapoint. Scan it for a cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically) and [HD01] Happy Birthday Isaac!.
- 13Squeeze through the gap at the back of the room.
- 14Before continuing up stairs, head right and grab [AD06] Log: Connor Chasson off the desk.
- 15Continue past the desk to the next room and find [AD07] Full Stop on a corpse in the corner.
- 16Backtrack to the stairs and continue up to a barracks room.
- 17Find the following datapoints in the barracks: [AD01] Log: Connor Chasson (left), [AD02] Log: Skylar Rivera (bunk to the right), [AD05] Log: Mia Sayied (up short steps to the left), [AD03] Log: Ella Pontes (back of the room in a bunk), and [AD04] Log: Jackson Frye (on the couch on the right side).
- 18Continue through the next door and follow Rost's voice to an opening and climb out for a cutscene.
- 19Follow Rost to a Slavebrush plant and gather it using gather button.
- 20Press heal button to heal yourself with medicine.
- 21Collect any herbs you find to fill your medicine gauge.
- 22Follow Rost until he stops and crouches. Use crouch button to crouch with him and follow him into the tall grass.
- 23Follow Rost through the bushes as he sneaks past the Watchers.
- 24Follow Rost to prompt a cutscene with Teb.
- 25Follow Rost down to the herd of Striders and gather three stones off the ground when instructed.
- 26Follow Rost up to a ledge for a cutscene.
- 27Wait for Rost's signal and press and hold aim button to take aim with a rock. Throw it in the proper area.
- 28Jump down and move through the tall grass to rejoin Rost.
- 29Hold harvest button to harvest the dead Watcher.
- 30Gather from the three Ridgewood trees and open the weapon wheel with weapon wheel button.
- 31Use select button to select Hunter Arrow.
- 32Hold craft button twice to craft 20 Hunter Arrows.
- 33Follow Rost into the tall grass near the Striders.
- 34Use your Focus to scan the Strider and highlight the canister weak point on its back.
- 35Take aim with aim button at the canister and hold draw arrow button to draw and fire an arrow.
- 36Keep firing, try to score a direct hit on its eye, until the Strider goes down. Remember to dodge with dodge button if it charges you.
- 37Follow Rost to prompt another cutscene where Teb falls from the cliffside.
- 38Jump down into the tall grass to rescue Teb.
- 39Activate your Focus and use tag button to tag the Watcher.
Tips
- The Focus is an instrumental device that will allow you to see things others can't.
- There are several types of datapoints in Horizon Zero Dawn: Audio Datapoints, Hologram Datapoints, Text Datapoints, and Scanned Glyphs.
- The amount of health you will gain (orange bar in the upper left screen) is directly related to the amount of medicine you have (green bar directly underneath the orange bar).
- After you scan an enemy for the first time, an entry will appear in Aloy's Notebook detailing the enemy's weak points along with an specific elemental weakness the enemy has (Tear, Fire, etc.).
