Learn effective resource management strategies for playing as Judas in The Binding of Isaac. Optimize your runs with tips on health, items, and the Book of Belial.
Walkthrough
- 1Starting Resources: Judas begins with 1 Red Heart container, 3 coins, and The Book of Belial. He also has a 1.35x damage multiplier.
- 2Black Judas: Dying with Judas' Shadow respawns the player as Black Judas, who has 2 Black Hearts, a 2x damage multiplier, and 1.1 base speed. Black Judas has the highest damage multiplier of all playable characters. In Repentance, Black Judas cannot gain Red Heart containers; items that grant them will instead grant Black Hearts.
Tips
- The Book of Belial: This item's damage increase is significant. In Rebirth, it guarantees a Devil or Angel Room after a boss. In later DLCs, it increases the chance by 12.5%. Keep it if possible until you have sufficient damage from other sources.
- Health Management: Due to Judas' low starting health, prioritize health upgrades. Devil Deals can be risky or unaffordable.
- Early Game Items: Dead Cat has little downside early on for Judas and contributes to the Guppy transformation. Items that activate on low health (Scapular, Monkey Paw, Glyph of Balance, Whore of Babylon) are easily triggered.
- Birthright (Repentance+): When combined with The Book of Belial, it becomes a passive item that grants a damage boost scaling with the active item's charges. This may not work with certain item types.
Mastering Judas' resource management leads to more successful runs and unlocks.
