When you start a new game, after picking your game mode, you'll see the difficulty options: Novice, Adept, Professional, and Veteran. Each one changes things up quite a bit, affecting how much gold you start with, how often those pesky cataclysms hit, and even how many yaks show up to help you out. If none of those feel quite right, don't sweat it! You can also go for Custom difficulty to tweak individual settings. This is where you can really dial in the experience to your liking.
