In Basic Liar's Deck, players are dealt a hand of cards, and the objective is to be the last player remaining. The game revolves around players making bids about the number of cards of a specific rank or suit that they believe are present across all players' hands. The game typically uses a standard 52-card deck, though some variations might remove certain cards or use multiple decks for larger player counts.

The gameplay proceeds in turns. A player will start by making a bid, such as "I have three 7s." The next player can then either increase the bid (e.g., "four 7s" or "three 8s") or challenge the previous bid by calling "Liar!"

Core Mechanics:

• Dealing: Players are dealt a set number of cards. The exact number can vary based on the number of players.
• Bidding: Bids must increase either the quantity of cards or the rank/suit of the cards. For example, if the last bid was "two Queens," the next bid could be "three Queens" or "two Kings."
• Challenging: A player challenges a bid if they believe it is false. All players then reveal their hands.
• Resolution:
  • If the bid was false (the actual number of cards was less than bid), You who made the false bid is penalized (e.g., loses a card, loses a life).
  • If the bid was true (the actual number of cards was equal to or greater than bid), You who challenged the bid is penalized.
• Winning: The game typically ends when only one player remains with cards, or when all other players have been eliminated based on the penalty system.

Basic Strategy for Liar's Deck:

• Hand Assessment: Accurately assess the strength of your own hand. Do you have many cards of a certain rank or suit?
• Opponent Observation: Pay close attention to your opponents' bids and reactions. Do they seem confident? Are they bidding on ranks you know are scarce?
• Bluffing: Make bids that are slightly higher than what you actually have, or challenge bids when you suspect your opponent is bluffing.
• Probability: While not as statistically driven as Liar's Dice, understanding the distribution of cards in a standard deck can still inform your decisions. For instance, knowing that there are only four Aces means a bid of "five Aces" is impossible.
• Card Management: If the game involves discarding or losing cards, be strategic about which cards you are willing to part with.
