    Incapacitate enemy soldiers by knocking them out.

    Drag the unconscious soldier to your transport truck or a cardboard box before they regain consciousness.

    After completing or aborting the mission, captured soldiers will be held in prison on the Squad Management screen.

    Soldiers will eventually join your unit automatically. This process is expedited if you have a soldier with the 'Politician' career in your squad.
Tips
  • Rescuing a captured soldier during a mission will make them join your unit immediately.
  • Unique Characters have special conditions that must be met for them to join.
  • Certain characters like Jonathan, Para-Medic, Python, Raikov, Sigint, Sokolov, Eva, Venus, Teliko, Gene (EU version), and Zero (if you don't own the Metal Gear Solid Digital Graphic Novel) will join immediately after capture or rescue.
  • Any soldier rescued during a mission, recruited via AP Scan, or via password will join immediately. The GAKO soldier and Zero are notable password-exclusive recruits.
  • Soldiers can also join voluntarily through the Cyber-Survival mode.
  • Soldiers have different careers that provide various benefits:
    • Athlete, Quarterback, Scout, Rescuer, Deliveryman, Bait: Best for the Infiltration Unit.
  • Artist, Stuntman: Best for the Online Unit.
  • Gambler: Best for Cyber-Survival.
  • Surveyor, Spy/Agent, Arms Dealer: Best for the Intelligence Unit.
  • Arms Specialist, Elite Engineer, Engineer: Best for the Technical Unit.
  • Chemist, Doctor, Nutritionist: Best for the Medical Unit.
  • Politician: Can be placed in ANY UNIT and makes prisoners join more easily.
  • In Cyber-Survival mode, you can send your units to compete online via a WLAN point. Success depends on assigning equipment and monitoring your unit's condition. Losing soldiers in Cyber-Survival means they can be captured by the enemy.
