Guide to Cataris in Metroid Dread: Redirect thermal flow, lower lava, and defeat EMMI 03 (Green) to get the Morph Ball.
Walkthrough
- 1Head down and to the left. Blast away at targets, watching out for mechanical enemies that can be melee-countered to avoid significant damage from their Shockwave Attack.
- 2Clear enemies and continue downward to a recharge station. Blast hidden blocks to proceed. Go through the door on the right, then take the Top Left door. Interact with the first thermal device to open a path to the left.
- 3Navigate through the EMMI zone, being careful of EMMI 03 (Green). Use your Phantom Cloak (a cloaking ability) to stay invisible and mask sounds. Reach the next Interactive Device and use it to open another path through the EMMI zone.
- 4Get the third thermal device to reach the western side of Cataris through the EMMI zone. Advance through the EMMI zone, using the Phantom Cloak when necessary. Follow thermal piping and blue spider magnet trails if lost; stick to the left after the third device.
- 5Make your way up, blast fire-spewing slugs with two missiles to destroy them. Continue upward and to the right to reach the next Network Station (a save point). Save your game and continue through the door.
- 6Proceed through the area until the next EMMI zone. Escape by sticking to the right and utilizing the Phantom Cloak. You should then hit the Map Station (which reveals the map).
- 7Continue through Cataris and deal with targets, including returning Shockwave Mechanical enemies and a new beast with a charged magma blast, both of which can be Melee Countered.
- 8Continue through the linear path of doors. Head left when you see Energy Tank #2 in the distance. Shoot a charged shot at the Interactive Device. The lava will lower, allowing access to more of the area and progression to the Central Unit.
- 9To acquire Energy Tank #2, backtrack to the area with blue glass and head for the Spider Magnet Mechanism. Ride the Spider Magnet to the right door of the rotator room. Lower the Spider Magnet mechanism with arrows facing down. Aim for Energy Tank #2 via the minimap (a small map display) to access it.
- 10Take the shuttle to Dairon.
- 11Navigate to the left utilizing the Spider Magnet. Destroy breakable power beam blocks. Proceed through the dark area until you reach the device that will power on the facility.
- 12After powering on the facility in Dairon, shoot a Missile Cover (press the cover button to crouch behind walls or objects) door to the right. Make your way further right until you see an Item Sphere icon on the World Map. Slide underneath towards the Chozo Statue and acquire the Wide Beam. The Wide Beam can push wide beam boxes and blast off wide beam covers, and it shoots three projectiles at once.
- 13Travel back to Cataris via the shuttle. Look for Wide Beam Boxes on the World Map to the southwestern side of Cataris, one of which is in the EMMI zone. Blast both boxes and navigate through the EMMI zone to reach the Central Unit. Destroy the Central Unit and then take out EMMI 03 (Green) with the Omega Cannon to be rewarded with the Morph Ball.
- 14Travel back to Artaria via the elevator from Cataris. Head west or left.
