Part 5

Learn about Street X, URL, Downhill Drift, Outrun, SUV, and Magazine races in Need for Speed Underground 2. Includes drag race tips.

Race Types:

1. Street X: Similar to Circuit races but on a smaller track. Features 3-4 laps, 3 opponents, no traffic, and no nitro. Winning requires excellent cornering ability.
2. URL: A more professional version of Circuit races. Features 3, 4, or 5 laps, 5 opponents, no traffic, and nitro is available. The general strategy is the same as Circuit races.
3. Downhill Drift: A hybrid of Sprint and Drift races. You go from point A to point B and win by accumulating the most drifting points. Features traffic, no nitro, 3 opponents (not visible), and drifting parts act as multipliers. Avoid traffic and focus on drifting.
4. Outrun: Aim to take the lead and create distance from your single opponent. Features traffic and nitro. Winning many of these races can unlock unique parts. Strategies include using nitro on highways (but not reaching top speed) or using cornering to outmaneuver the opponent. A 180° turn and acceleration can also be effective.
5. SUV: These races require you to drive a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV). The specific race type (traffic, nitro, shortcuts, laps) depends on the underlying race format.
6. Magazine Races: Similar to Sprint races, you go from point A to point B against the clock. You choose your route, and nitro is available with traffic.

Drag Races:

Drag races have specific mechanics to consider:

• Blown Engine: Shifting too slowly causes the engine to heat up. If it overheats, your engine will explode, disqualifying you.
• Totaled: Crashing into a wall or traffic will result in disqualification.
• Shifts: Pay attention to the circle on your screen to time your gear shifts.
  • Short Shift: Occurs when you don't wait long enough to shift, causing a loss of speed.
  • Good Shift: The circle is blue and doesn't clink. You won't lose speed, and your engine won't overheat.
  • Perfect Shift: The circle turns green. This is the best shift, providing a speed boost without engine heat. According to [email protected], perfect shifts occur at 9000 rpm for all cars, regardless of upgrades.
