Night In The Woods is an indie game released by Infinite Fall. They launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the project in October of 2013 and raised over $200,000 to help bring the game to life. And unlike some Kickstarter projects, where the developers take your money and use it for an experiment to determine which type of accelerate helps money burn the fastest, they managed to put together a full game. Additionally, they put together two mini-adventures that were released to the backers in a show of "hey we swear we're not wasting your money". Both of those mini-adventures are included in Night In The Woods, and can be found under the Extras option in the Main Menu.

In terms of actual gameplay, this is a story driven exploration game. There are some mini-games here occasionally, including a fairly meaty old school hack n' slash adventure by the name of Demontower, but most of what you'll be doing in this game is talking to people. This isn't Skyrim in terms of exploration, but there is a decent amount of stuff to see and do during your visit. You can just run through the game and talk to who you need to if you want, but a lot of the fun comes from exploring and seeing what is going on in town. You will miss entire subplots if you don't talk to people, and the writing and story are both strong suits of this game so take your time and enjoy them. This is a delightfully weird and heartfelt adventure that deals with issues like depression, isolation, and growing up. And severed arms. And rocking out, so hard. But we'll get to that soon enough.

It is worth noting that this is a complete walkthrough of the game, so there will be spoilers for the story as I cover it. I will never spoil anything coming up later in the game, but if you go too far ahead in the guide you may inadvertently end up spoiling something for yourself.
