How to Get New Armor and Outfits – Nightingale

Get new armor and outfit recipes in nightingale by visiting realms or The Watch. Learn about T1, T2, and T3 Essence upgrades.

There are two primary methods for acquiring new recipes for armor and outfits in nightingale: visiting new realms and visiting The Watch. In nightingale, armor and outfits are currently the same, with no transmogrification system available. Your focus should be on increasing their base stats.

Base stats can be improved by upgrading armor using T1, T2, or T3 Essence at the Simple, Refined, and Excellent Upgrade Benches, respectively. You will unlock recipes for these benches as you progress. T3 Essence is only available at The Watch, while T1 Essence comes from Antiquarian, Provisioner, and Astrolabe realms, and T2 Essence from Herbarium and Gloom realms. The materials used for crafting also affect the final stats.

Generally, rarer and more expensive materials result in armor with better stats. You can check a material's Attribute Multipliers in its description before crafting to understand the expected stat bonuses for your playstyle (melee, ranged, or magick).

Recipes From New Realms:

Exploring new realms can yield new Essence Traders who offer various recipes. Different traders in different locations offer different recipes. For instance, you might find armor recipes in an Antiquarian Swamp realm, but you will need to visit Swamp realms with Provisioner, Astrolabe, Herbarium, and Gloom cards to find all available recipes. This applies to Desert and Forest realms as well; visit each variant to discover all recipes.

Typically, you will find a few new armor recipes per realm, often for specific slots like Hat, Gear, Back, Top, Bottom, Gloves, and Shoes. While you may not find complete sets from a single trader, most outfit variants synchronize well. The Simple armor is the first available, with more matching sets like the Trapper and Calcularian unlocked as you build new crafting stations and Augmentations.

Visit The Watch for New Recipes:

The Watch is a multiplayer hub accessible later in the main story of nightingale. Here, you can participate in puzzles and boss fights with other players to earn T3 Essence. The Watch also hosts numerous NPC (non-player character — anyone the game controls, not you) Essence Traders offering new recipes for crafting stations, firearms, tools, resources, and armor pieces. Druidic, Hermetic, and Passaieux Sets:

Harley, located at the back of the central hall on the right side as you enter The Watch, is the primary Essence Trader for armor and outfit recipes. Some of the best armor sets, including the Druidic, Hermetic, and Passaieux bundles, are available here. Each set costs 1,100 T3 Essence. The Druidic set is generally recommended for its balance of stats and high potential gear score. New outfits are expected to be added in future updates, so revisit The Watch periodically.
