You're mostly going to find Coal hanging out in caves and vaults. Think of the lower-tier realm score caves – Coal likes to spawn there. It can show up in higher-tier realms too, but it's got to compete with other, fancier resources. If you've got Major realm cards active, especially for caves, you've got a better shot. Specifically, keep an eye out in larger caves or those Fae Vault/Ruin Dungeons that pop up with POIs like occupations or those tricky Intellect puzzles.
