Learn how to locate Riebeck's camp and use your Signalscope to find fellow travelers across the solar system in Outer Wilds. Master musical signals!
Alright, so you're ready to venture out into the big black, huh? Before you blast off, let's get you familiar with some of the basics right here on your home planet. Think of this as your final tutorial before the real adventure begins!
Exploring Home:
Your home planet, Timber Hearth, is actually a pretty great place to learn the ropes. You'll chat with some of your fellow Hearthians, check out some cool sights, and get a feel for how things work before you even leave the atmosphere. It's all part of the Outer Wilds Ventures' onboarding process, so pay attention!
Speak with the locals
First off, you'll want to meet some of the crew. Gneiss is your go-to for understanding the Signalscope. This little gadget is super important for listening to all sorts of mysterious sounds out in space, and Gneiss will explain how to use it. You can even play a game of Hide-and-Seek with Galena and Tephra to practice tracking them down with your Signalscope – they're just kids, so they won't be too hard to find!
Then there's Arkose, who'll teach you about the dangers of ghost matter. It's invisible and will burn you up instantly, but don't worry, your Scout Launcher can help you detect it by sending out a scout. Handy, right?
Mica has cooked up a miniature spaceship model that you can pilot. It's perfect for practicing your flying skills and landing on some makeshift pads. It's great practice for when you get into your actual ship!
Gossan hangs out by the entrance to the "Zero-G" cave. They'll tell you about a satellite that needs fixing deep inside. This is your introduction to moving around in zero gravity. You'll need to grab a space suit from the bottom of the cave elevator to breathe and float around in there.
See the sights
Once you've chatted with everyone, make your way to the Observatory. You'll find a few more locals who can drop some interesting lore bombs. The ground floor is also a museum filled with artifacts from all over the solar system. Take your time to read the descriptions and check out the exhibits. A lot of it might not make sense at first, but you'll be able to come back later with more knowledge.
You'll notice these cool gray stone slabs with swirly patterns – those are written in the Nomai language. Your translator will help you read them, and you'll find these all over the solar system. The Signalscope can also pick up a strange blue
