Learn how to complete the RATS heist in Payday 2, covering Day 1 drug cooking, Day 2 safe location, and Day 3 escape.
- 1Day 1: Guard and cook drugs. Find Muriatic Acid, Chlorinated Soda, and Hydrogen in a shed near your start, in the basement, or in another shed by the house. You must gather these ingredients 3 times. After gathering, grab the drugs and toss them into the van. Cops may cut the power, but this does not hinder the drug cooking process.
- 2Day 2: There are 3 different apartments. The drug deal may go south on the 3rd bag. The safe with the information can be in the top floor of any apartment. The information will be burned very quickly, so make a run for it. Cops will show up and try to enter the apartment buildings.
- 3Day 3: Go to the bus and execute the Mendozas, then escape via helicopter. You can take a bag of money, but it has trap bombs that must be diffused or will blow. If playing with human players, grab as much cash as possible, but wait for the loot helicopter to arrive and throw the bags in to qualify them as bagged. Cops guard the bus, and more arrive from the opposite side of the bridge. Civilians are present on the bridge; tell them to get down.
Tips:
Escape Missions
Escape missions may appear after multi-day heists. The primary goal is to escape, sometimes requiring waiting for another vehicle or helicopter. Update 12 (or 11) made escapes mandatory.
Underground Parking Garage Escape:
You start on the lowest floor of a parking garage. You may need to haul loot. Use the stairs (marked with a green exit sign) to reach the ground level escape van. The upper floor stairs may be locked and require a shaped charge or lock picking. Shooting in the tight stair space is easier than the open garage. If hauling loot, the player with fall damage absorption skills can use cracked walls overlooking the garage as a shortcut to the bottom floor.
Overpass Escape:
Hold out until the next escape vehicle (van or helicopter) arrives. If a helicopter picks you up, the building it arrives at has two doors; the right door leads to the roof. If a van picks you up, hold the parking lot. Shooting in a tight space is preferable to open areas.
Tips and Tricks
Combat Tips:
- There is no targeting reticle (a crosshair on your HUD (Heads-Up Display)), so Aim Down the Sight (ADS) as much as possible, especially with high recoil guns.
- Use cover (objects that block enemy fire) as much as possible. Fire within a group of tied-down hostages. Never shoot when untied hostages are around, as they might get up and cause you to lose money.
- Aim for headshots whenever possible, as shooting the chest of a cop with body armor is pointless unless using a shotgun.
- Taser cops have helmets with yellow trimming. Take them out quickly, as their shocks can cause you to accidentally shoot a hostage.
- Car windows can be shot out, including your escape van's. Shoot cops taking cover behind cars.
Gameplay Tips:
- Cable ties are one-time use; they are not recovered if a hostage dies.
- Keep hostages when possible, but don't group them all together. Have teammates cover a perimeter while you drill. Tie at least one or two nearby hostages to slow police down. Police do not initiate assaults if hostages are nearby. Any hostages freed grant police full firepower.
- Pressing the 'F' key is important for actions like lock picking, activating drills, tying up hostages, and telling hostages to get down on the floor.
