Explore the new content, overworld, Metaverse, and confidant updates in Persona 5 Royal compared to the original Persona 5.

Storyline

• A new third semester is added, unlocked by reaching Councillor Rank 10.
• During the third semester, most confidants can continue to increase their ranks.
• Party members receive a Rank 11 third awakening for their personas.
• A new palace is included, tied to new available endings.

Overworld

• Group messages will now include some photos.
• Most forced-sleep evenings have been converted into Leblanc-only activities.
• Daily Assist can offer feedback on what to do in the overworld.
• Social stat-boosting activities have been added or adjusted, including at the Shinagawa Aquarium and Nakano Street.
• The new Kichijoji area offers various party-enhancing activities such as Darts, Billiards, the Jazz Club, and the Temple.

Metaverse

• All palace layouts have been modified to include grappling hooks and Will Seed hunting.
• Palace rulers feature additional phases with altered behaviors.
• Accessories now function similarly to a 9th equipable skill.
• The fusion chart has been updated to include new personas from the Faith and Councillor arcana.
• Existing personas have modified arcana, resistances, and skill sets.
• New personas have been added to the fusion pool.
• Fusion types are enhanced under the Fusion Alert condition.
• Mementos includes new requests and a mysterious vendor named Jose.
• Challenge battles have been introduced, where the goal is to achieve a high damage score.
• New palace and battle mechanics have been altered or introduced, including Disaster Shadows, Will Seeds, and Showtime Attacks.

Confidants Updates

• Kasumi joins as a new party member and the Faith confidant.
• Takuto Maruki joins as the Councillor confidant.
• Goro Akechi's Justice confidant progression is now manual.
• Most confidants that previously awarded +3 social stats now give +2 for most events.
• Some confidant ranks are followed by a phone call that can provide additional points.
• Party member movie invites have been moved to the evenings.
• Some confidant abilities have been enhanced:
  • Emperor can copy skill cards immediately.
  • Lovers can negate enemy attacks.
  • Chariot can insta-kill enemies while still yielding money, EXP, and items.
  • Justice can reveal unknown enemy resistances.
  • Fortune can trigger Fusion Alerts and display optimal answers during confidant events.
  • Strength can reduce costs for special treatments.
  • Hanged can add ailments to guns and customize them for free.
  • Devil allows ambushing even during high security levels.
  • Tower restricts Down Shots to 3 but improves ailment chances.
  • Faith enhances ambush techniques.
  • Councillor teaches Joker chance-based skills.

Thieves Den

• This is a hub space that tracks in-game progress across all save files.
• The Palace Maker allows decoration of the space with items found in-game.
• It also contains a gallery for replaying scenes, movies, and music as the game progresses.
• These items are purchased using P Medals earned from in-game awards.
• You can observe confidants interacting with Palace Maker items and play Tycoon with party members.
• Awards combine some older trophies with new achievements.

DLC

• All DLC originally from Persona 5 is free in Persona 5 Royal's Western Release.
• This includes the Athena, Orpheus F, Izanagi-no-Okami, and Raoul personas.
• New costume packs and backfill packs for Kasumi are also included.
• Additional challenge battles feature the P3 and P4 protagonists as bosses.

New Game+

• Unlocks include Joker's ultimate persona, the Twin's ultimate boss battle, and the third semester hidden ultimate boss battle.
• Carry overs include money, compendium, fusion unlocks, social stats, HP and SP increases, Jazz club skills, battle equipment, overworld equipment, the Eternal Lockpick, skill cards, Challenge Battle scores, Mementos stamps, farewell gifts from Rank 10 confidants, Valentine's Day chocolates, and Christmas gifts.
