Chamber 5

Your friendly guide to Portal 2's Chamber 5. Learn how to get the Companion Cube, use plungers, and open the exit. We'll make it easy!

Alright, welcome to Chamber 5! This one's pretty straightforward, but there's a little trick to it. As soon as you step in, do this: fire a portal right at your feet. You'll fall through it and land in the main part of the chamber.

Now, look up towards the top right corner of the room. You'll see a delivery chute, and inside it is a Companion Cube. You need to get that cube! So, fire a portal onto the floor directly beneath the chute. Then, turn around and hit the red plunger button that's right behind you. This will send the cube tumbling down to you.

Grab that cube and carry it over to the big red button on the floor. Pop it on there, and a set of stairs will rise up on your left. Head up those stairs. You'll see two more plunger buttons up here, positioned right over the acid. This is where it gets a little tricky.

Here's the move: First, fire a portal onto that slanted wall you see on the left. Now, you need to press the buttons in a specific order, and quickly! Press the left button first. This will deploy the Companion Cube. Immediately after, press the right-hand button as the cube is falling. This action will raise a platform, catching the cube and saving it from a nasty fall into the acid.

With the Companion Cube safely on the platform, head back down. Pick it up again and carry it back to the original red button on the floor. Placing it there will open up the exit, letting you move on to the next test chamber. Nice job!
