First off, completing the main Story Mode for the very first time is your ticket to unlocking two big things: Bounty Hunter Mode and Hard Mode. So, if you're looking to dive into those, just finish the story once. Keep in mind, if you miss any items or can't afford them on your first playthrough, you'll have to play through the story again to grab them.

Bounty Hunter Mode is pretty neat because it gives you different objectives for certain chapters and comes with its own set of rewards. We'll get into those specific goals, rewards, and strategies later on.
