Follow this walkthrough for Resident Evil Village's first visit to the village. Learn how to navigate the early areas, find key items, and survive your first encounters with Lycans.
Walkthrough
- 1You begin outside in the snow. Look around, answer the phone, and check the body for the Mission Briefing (File).
- 2Follow the linear path, crouching and dropping down as needed, until you reach a building with a blood-stained wooden door.
- 3Enter the building and head down to the basement. After exploring, return upstairs. Your original exit will be blocked, so crouch and follow a path through a wall opening to the outside.
- 4Continue along the linear path through a fence and down ledges into the Village. When you reach a dead horse, turn right into a building. This building contains a locked drawer and a bird cage, which you will return to later.
- 5Proceed down the street to a dilapidated building. Nearby, you'll find an Outhouse, relevant for the When You Gotta Go... Trophy.
- 6Continue towards a tractor and reach a dead-end. Enter the building with an open door. Smash the yellow Crate inside and collect its contents (contents may vary by difficulty). A Knife is also located in this building.
- 7After hearing noises from above, head into the kitchen. Interact with a pot, and a can will roll out from behind a curtain. Follow it to meet an NPC who gives you the LEMI Handgun.
- 8After a scene, you'll be in a room full of bodies. Push through to find an exit, leading to your first combat encounter with a Lycan.
- 9Combat Tips: Lycans are werewolf-type creatures that can dodge and wield weapons. Block their attacks and push them back by tapping the block button. Headshots are effective.
- 10After defeating the Lycan, find a small shack containing a Herb and Chem Fluid. Combine these to create a First Aid Med.
- 11The way out is blocked. Return to the room where the NPC gave you the handgun and find the Bolt Cutters.
- 12Use the Bolt Cutters to open the locked gate. Proceed across the water and into a building.
- 13Before heading upstairs, search for Handgun Ammo. Ensure your clip is full.
- 14Head upstairs to find more Handgun Ammo and Chem Fluid. Picking these up will trigger more Lycans to appear outside.
- 15Barricade the door using shelves. A Lycan will enter via the stairs; defeat it, and the others will flee.
- 16Interact with the nearby radio to receive your next destination.
- 17Exit the building. Lycans will have broken through a previously blocked area, and some will be visible on rooftops (they won't attack unless provoked).
- 18Open the gate behind the building you just exited. Head towards the building ahead and smash the Crate.
- 19As you approach the stairs to enter, Lycans will attack. Run inside and barricade the door.
- 20Grab the M1897 Shotgun. Search the rooms for an Herb, Handgun Ammo (x2), and Gunpowder (x2). Note the bags of flour that can be used for cover.
- 21Look for a hole in the floor with a ladder. Go down, grab the Rusted Scrap, and return outside.
- 22This initiates a timed event: survive endless waves of Lycans until a larger Lycan, Urias, appears.
- 23Urias Encounter Options:
- Option 1 (Hide and Escape): Run and hide until Urias appears, then follow a path with water to escape. Once an NPC arrives, the Lycans will leave. This method prioritizes evasion and barricading.
- 24Option 2 (Defeat Urias): This is for skilled players or easier difficulties. Defeating Urias earns the Timber Trophy. (Note: It may be difficult to defeat Urias on the first playthrough due to insufficient ammo.)
- 25In the area with Urias, find explosive red barrels. On the upper levels, there are an Herb, Shotgun Ammo, and a Crate to smash.
Tips
- Combine Herb and Chem Fluid to create a First Aid Med.
- Use shelves and barricades to block enemy paths.
- Bags of flour can create a cloud of cover.
- Headshots are generally the most effective way to deal with Lycans.
- Conserve ammo when possible, especially if aiming to escape Urias rather than fight him.
