Holding the Drumsticks: Grip sticks lightly, about an inch from the end behind your curled hand, between your pointer finger and thumb. Use your middle finger for bounce and support to allow sticks to rebound after each hit. Practice hitting long strings of notes with alternate hands.

Hitting the Drums: Use a soft touch for responsiveness and to reduce noise. Notes correspond to pads, similar to guitar.

Bass Pedal: The bass pedal requires practice.

Heel Down: Suitable for lower difficulties or songs without a constant bass beat (e.g., Enter Sandman, Dani California). Keep your heel down, press the pedal, and tilt your foot back and forth to hit.

Heel Up: Better for constant bass parts (e.g., Maps on Expert). Keep the pedal down until needed; this method is less tiring and helps maintain a constant beat.

Separating Foot and Hands: This is the main challenge with the bass pedal and requires practice. Good songs for practice on Expert include The Hand That Feeds, Maps, Orange Crush, and Enter Sandman.

Activating Overdrive: Collect Overdrive the same way as guitar. Wait for a drum fill (where all target areas are filled). Hit at least three notes to power it. At the end of the fill, hit the Crash cymbal (green for righty flip, red for lefty flip) to activate.
