So you've beaten the game? Time for New Game Plus (The Threads of Fate)! Learn about Burdens, difficulty modifiers, and what changes in NG+.
Alright, you've done it! You've conquered the main story of Rogue Legacy 2. But don't put your controller down just yet, because the real challenge is about to begin with New Game Plus, or as the game calls it, 'The Threads of Fate'. Once you've seen the credits roll, you'll find Elpis, Bearer of Hope, hanging out near Charon. Chat her up to dive into your next playthrough. The cool thing is, you don't need to finish your current run to start a new Thread. Just know that entering a new Thread resets all your boss and teleporter progress. The game lets you go all the way up to NG+100, but you'll likely have everything you need from the Soul Shop way before then. Want to speed things up? If you've seen the True Ending (which involves beating all Prime Bosses with specific Burdens active, usually around NG+7), you can actually advance two Threads at a time. Just look for the sparkling button prompt before you enter the next Thread. ## What's Different in NG+ Every time you start a new Thread, things get tougher: * Enemies level up: They gain 110 levels per Thread, meaning more damage and health, even before you factor in Burdens. * Stat boosts: Enemies get an extra +1% damage and +1.5% HP with each Thread. * More rewards: You'll earn more experience, Gold, Ore, and Red Aether. * Bosses drop Soul Stones again: This happens the first time you defeat them in a new Thread. ## Picking Your Burdens This is where the real customization comes in. When you start a new Thread, you'll have to pick 'Burdens'. These are essentially negative modifiers that crank up the difficulty in various ways. Think of them as challenges you willingly take on. Each Thread requires a certain amount of 'Burden Weight'. It starts at 2 additional Burden Weight per Thread up to NG+10, then drops to 1 additional Burden Weight per Thread until NG+25, capping out at 35 total. If you're feeling spicy, you can add even more Burden Weight than required, starting as early as NG+1. Doing so gives you a Gold Bonus: the first 5 Burden Weight grant +5% Gold Bonus, stacking up to +25% total. Some Burdens even have indirect benefits, like increasing enemy difficulty which leads to more resources, or expanding the world size to spawn more treasure rooms and Arcane Chambers. Some Burdens won't be available until you've completed a certain number of Threads. For example, the Burden of Lamech and Burden of Agartha's Royal Guard are available from NG+1, while the Burden of Pishon's Uprising and Burden of Cain unlock at NG+6. ## Difficulty Modifiers (Burdens) Here's a look at some of the Burdens you can choose from: | Icon | Name | Description | Max | Weight | |---|---|---|---|---| | !Icons Burden BurdenEnemyDamage | Burden of Power | Enemies deal 8% more damage. | 5 | 1 | | [![Icons Burden BurdenEnemyHealth](100% Human-Written.
