Learn about the Rogue Legacy 2 Architect class, what you can and cannot do, and its unique gold mechanics.
- 1The Architect class reduces normal gold gain by 60%. This deduction is applied to the money multiplier, not deducted from the final amount. Without bonuses, a coin with the Architect active is worth 6 instead of 10.
- 2You can revisit past rooms.
- 3You can retry boss rooms.
- 4You can retry miniboss rooms, which usually contain valuable equipment.
- 5You can use teleporters to any room you have found them in.
- 6You can retry failed fairy chest rooms. This is useful for chests requiring dwarfism, a rune, a specific spell, or if you lacked the skill initially.
- 7You can discover unexplored areas.
With the Architect, you CANNOT:
- Reloot chests regardless of their past contents. All looted chests remain in their original positions and state (open or closed).
- Retry Circus rooms regardless of whether you won.
Classes, Abilities, and Stats Overview:
There are a total of 9 classes in Rogue Legacy 2. You begin with 4 and must purchase the rest through the Manor. All classes have unique stats and traits suited for different scenarios. Abilities can also be purchased to enhance classes.
Stats Explained:
- MP (Mana Points): Allows you to cast spells and use abilities.
- HP (Health Points): Allows you to take more hits.
- STR (Strength): Determines your attack power and critical damage.
- INT (Intelligence): Increases damage output as it gets higher.
- CRIT CHANCE (Critical Chance): Makes critical strikes more common.
- CRIT DMG (Critical Damage): Makes critical strikes deal more damage.
Class Details:
1) Knight/Paladin
- Stats: 100% HP, MP, STR, and INT.
- Ability: Puts up a shield, nullifying the initial attack and any immediate ones after it. (Cost: 25 MP)
- Ability 2: Pressing down before activating the ability turns you into a statue, nullifying all damage and damaging anyone who comes in contact with you. (Cost: 15 MP when activated, 4 MP per second while active)
- Characteristics: None.
- Overview: A balanced class with no positive or negative stats. Abilities allow for damage absorption and good damage output.
2) Mage/Archmage
- Stats: 150% MP, 125% INT, 50% HP, 50% STR.
- Ability: Alternate between 3 spells. (Cost: 0 MP)
- Characteristics: Kills regain mana.
- Overview: A weak class with powerful spells but slow mana regeneration due to low strength and fragility from low HP. Regenerates mana only on kill, unlike the Spellsword. Has the deadly Time Stop spell.
3) Barbarian/Barbarian King; Barbarian Queen
- Stats: 150% HP, 50% MP, 75% STR, 100% INT.
- Ability: Shout, destroying any projectiles and knocking away enemies. (Cost: 20 MP)
- Characteristics: None.
- Overview: High health allows for tanking and good gains from chicken legs. Ability is a lifesaver against projectiles. Low strength leads to slower kills and potential damage taken.
4) Knave/Assassin
- Stats: +15% CRIT CHANCE, +125% CRIT DMG, 75% HP, 65% MP, 75% STR, 100% INT.
- Ability: Mist. Makes you invulnerable to projectiles and direct contact, but you cannot attack or the effect ends. (Cost: 5 MP when activated, 14 MP per second while active)
- Characteristics: None.
- Overview: Weak initially. Maximizing CRIT DMG and CRIT CHANCE can lead to nearly three-fourths crit chance and upwards of 500 damage per crit hit. Ability allows positioning to take out deadlier targets first, but has a high MP cost.
5) Shinobi/Hokage
- Stats: 175% STR, 60% HP, 40% MP, 100% INT, and no chance to score critical hits.
- Ability: Dashes you a short distance, passing through enemies and projectiles but not walls. Be careful not to end the dash on top of an enemy, as you will take damage. (Cost: 5 MP)
- Characteristics: +30% movement speed.
- Overview: Extremely powerful in early stages due to speed for movement and evasion. Inability to crit makes two useful skills useless and negates high damage needed in later stages, making it inferior to the Knave later on.
6) Miner/Spelunker; Spelunkette
- Stats: 50% HP, 50% MP, 75% STR, 100% INT, and a 30% bonus to all gold applied to the coin, not at the end.
- Ability: Activates the headlamp, lighting up the entire room in Darkness, as opposed to just a circle around you. (Cost: 1 MP per second while active)
- Characteristics: Can reveal chests, fairy chests, and journal rooms on the map when rooms haven't been explored.
- Overview: Very weak with no real positive attributes. Kills slowly and cannot take many hits. Ability is nearly useless. Bonus gold loses value on NG+ and subsequent NG's, and low stats make it a poor choice. Switching to the Miner to map and locate chests and fairy chests can be useful.
7) Lich/Lich King; Lich Queen
- Stats: 150% INT, 75% STR, 35% starting HP and 50% starting MP. Can reach up to 100% HP and 200% MP through kills.
