The "Tactician" achievement in Solasta 2 is awarded for completing a specific challenging encounter using only tactical abilities and spells, without resorting to basic attacks. This means every damage-dealing action must stem from a class feature, spell, or special weapon ability. A prime candidate for this achievement is the encounter with the Duergar Raiders in the Sunken City, known for their resilience and aggressive tactics. For this achievement, your party composition should lean heavily into spellcasters and characters with potent combat maneuvers. A Wizard with access to area-of-effect spells like Fireball (dealing 8d6 fire damage) or single-target nukes like Disintegrate (10d6+5 force damage) will be essential. Your Cleric should focus on offensive spells like Spirit Guardians (3d8 radiant damage per round to enemies within 15 feet) or debuffs that set up your damage dealers. Characters with martial classes should equip themselves with abilities that consume resources but deal significant tactical damage, such as a Paladin's Divine Smite (extra 2d8 radiant damage on a melee weapon hit). Always ensure you have enough spell slots or ability uses to see the encounter through. Prioritize targets that pose the greatest threat, such as the Duergar Captain with its higher hit points and potent melee attacks. Carefully manage your action economy, ensuring each action is a meaningful contribution to your tactical assault.
