For weaponry, the most fundamental recipes involve simple metals and wood. A Shortsword, for example, is a common starting weapon. Its recipe typically requires Iron Ingots and Wood Planks. A crafted Shortsword usually deals 1d6 piercing damage and has the finesse property, making it suitable for Dexterity-based characters. Similarly, a Dagger recipe often calls for fewer Iron Ingots and perhaps some leather, dealing 1d4 piercing damage and also benefiting from the finesse property.

For ranged combat, the Shortbow is a staple. Its creation involves Wood Planks and String. A Shortbow typically deals 1d6 piercing damage and has the ammunition and two-handed properties. Chain Mail typically offers an AC of 16 and imposes disadvantage on Dexterity saving throws and Stealth checks, making it suitable for heavily armored characters like Fighters or Paladins who prioritize protection over agility. The crafting process for Chain Mail is more involved, often requiring specialized tools and a higher blacksmithing skill level.
