However, in his high school days, Miguel O'Hara knew Kron as a spoiled and cruel individual who bullied others for amusement. Kron, the son of Alchemax president Tyler Stone, often escaped consequences due to his father's influence.

One day, while experimenting in an Alchemax school laboratory and tormenting lab animals, including a scorpion, Kron was involved in an accident. A gene splicer malfunctioned due to a power surge, causing an explosion that fused the scorpion's DNA with Kron's own. This event transformed him into a fearsome creature, arguably one of the most pitiable enemies Spider-Man has faced.
