Thumper offers a straightforward set of game modes, primarily focused on the main campaign and replaying levels for score. There are no complex multiplayer or character customization options; the game's depth lies in its core mechanics and challenging level design.

• Campaign: This is the main game mode, taking you through all nine levels and their respective bosses. Progression is linear, and you must complete each level to unlock the next. Your first playthrough should focus on understanding the mechanics and surviving.
• Play Level: After completing a level in the campaign, it becomes available in the 'Play Level' menu. Here, you can replay any unlocked level to improve your score, aim for S-ranks, or simply practice difficult sections. This is where you'll spend most of your time refining your skills.
• Boss Rush (Unlocked after Campaign): Once you complete the entire campaign, a 'Boss Rush' mode becomes available. This mode challenges you to defeat all bosses consecutively, often with increased difficulty or stricter scoring requirements. It's the ultimate test of your boss-fighting prowess.
