Train another peon to speed up resource gathering.

Use a grunt to explore the immediate area around your town to detect incoming human attacks. Avoid exploring too far.

Build a barracks and then a woodmill as soon as resources allow.

Defend your town with your starting grunts and spearmen against the first few human attacks.

Train more units to replace any injured soldiers, prioritizing spearmen as they are more effective than grunts (aim for approximately 6 spearmen for every grunt).

Upgrade your spear technology. Your spearmen should be able to defeat footmen without difficulty.

Secure the second closest gold mine to the southeast by posting a grunt and a spearman to guard the peon mining route.

Once the second mine is secure, train as many spearmen as possible and position them around your town.

Wait for the 20 scattered human attackers to be defeated, which ends the level.

Begin mining gold and harvesting lumber to the southeast of your town.

Explore with a grunt to locate the bridge to the east of your town.

Place half of your defenses at the eastern bridge and the other half near the opening in the trees by the goldmine.

Build a barracks and then a woodmill.

Train spearmen and assign them to your defensive positions. Aim for about eight spearmen.

Upgrade your spear technology.

Continue training spearmen to strengthen your defenses.

Once your first mine is depleted, move your defenders to the bridge north of the human town.

Kill all human units around this northern bridge and secure the position.

Place another group of spearmen and grunts by the bridge near the bottom of the map to prevent human peasants from mining and to block approaches to your town.

Construct a temple and train a couple of necrolytes.

After the humans finish mining their first mine, use your spearmen to deal with peasants attempting to reach other gold mines.

Use raised skeletons to scout human territory and lure humans to your defenses.

Use grunts to assist in luring if skeletons are destroyed too quickly.

Once human defenders are dead, send your army into the human town and destroy it.

Form a defensive unit with grunts (G), spearmen (S), necrolytes (N), and raiders (R). A suggested formation is: G G R / S N N G / S S S.

Use a raider (r) to scout ahead for enemies.

When an enemy is found, retreat the scout raider back into position beside the other raiders.

Move your formation down the tunnels, eliminating all enemies encountered.

Do not split up your force; maintain safety in numbers.

Locate Griselda and finish her off. She cannot fight back and will only attempt to flee.

A raider can catch up to Griselda, but watch out for her ogre bodyguards.

Race to your city to save as many buildings as possible from the siege.

Attack the initial human enemy forces with your raiders and grunts, while spearmen provide ranged support.

After the initial attackers are defeated, train a peon.

Form your remaining troops into a defensive formation just above your town to fend off further attacks while you rebuild.

Rebuild your damaged structures, ensuring your woodmill is intact.
