Mission 1: The Gates of Acheron

Welcome to the grimdark future, Commander! This mission serves as your introduction to the Space Marines and the core mechanics of Dawn of War III. Focus on understanding unit controls, cover mechanics, and resource acquisition.

Objectives:

• Secure the Landing Zone: Eliminate all Ork resistance in the immediate vicinity.
• Establish a Forward Base: Capture the strategic points and build a Supply Depot.
• Destroy the Ork Warboss's Stronghold: Push through Ork lines and eliminate their main base.

Walkthrough:

1. Initial Engagement: You begin with a squad of Tactical Marines and Gabriel Angelos. Immediately move your Tactical Marines into the nearby Heavy Cover (indicated by a green shield icon) to reduce incoming damage from the Ork Shoota Boyz. Use Gabriel's "God-Splitter" ability on clustered Orks for significant area-of-effect damage.

   • Tip: Always prioritize cover for your ranged infantry.

2. Resource Acquisition: After clearing the initial Orks, move towards the glowing blue Power Core nodes. Capture these by moving a unit onto them. These provide the Power resource, crucial for advanced units and upgrades. Simultaneously, capture the Requisition Points (yellow banner icons) to gain Requisition, used for basic units and structures.

   • Location: Two Power Cores are located to the north and east of your starting position. Several Requisition Points are scattered throughout the initial area.

3. Base Building: Once you have enough Requisition, build a Supply Depot near your captured Requisition Points. This will increase your Requisition income. Next, construct a Barracks to begin training additional Tactical Marines and Assault Marines.

   • Strategy: Focus on a balanced force. Tactical Marines provide ranged fire, while Assault Marines are excellent for closing distances and disrupting enemy lines with their jump packs.

4. Pushing Forward: As you build up your forces, push east towards the first Ork encampment. use Gabriel Angelos's resilience to tank damage while your Tactical Marines lay down suppressing fire. Use Assault Marines to flank and engage Ork Gretchin squads or Shoota Boyz from behind cover.

   • Item of Interest: You may find a Wargear Crate near the center of the map, often guarded by a few Ork Boyz. Capturing this will grant you a temporary buff or a unique ability for one of your units.

5. Destroying the Stronghold: The Ork Warboss's Stronghold is heavily defended with multiple turrets and a constant stream of Ork Boyz. Prioritize destroying the turrets first. Use Gabriel's "God-Splitter" on the turrets and focus fire with your Tactical Marines. Once the turrets are down, concentrate all fire on the Stronghold itself. Be prepared for the Warboss to emerge and engage your forces directly. Use Gabriel to duel the Warboss while your infantry supports him.

   • Elite Ability: Remember to activate Gabriel's "Retribution" ability when facing the Warboss to increase his damage output and survivability.

Mission 2: The Serpent's Coil

This mission introduces the Eldar faction and their unique hit-and-run tactics. You'll primarily control Farseer Taldeer and a small force of Eldar units, focusing on speed and precision.

Objectives:

• Investigate the Imperial Distress Signal: Navigate through the treacherous jungle to reach the source.
• Rescue the Captured Eldar: Locate and free the imprisoned Eldar forces.
• Disable the Imperial Communications Array: Prevent the Imperium from broadcasting your presence.

Walkthrough:

1. Stealth and Reconnaissance: Begin with Farseer Taldeer and a squad of Rangers. use the Rangers' "Infiltrate" ability to move undetected through the jungle. Scout ahead to identify enemy patrols and turrets. Avoid direct engagements where possible.

   • Location: The initial path is linear, but watch for hidden paths that can bypass enemy patrols.

2. Ambush Tactics: When engagement is unavoidable, use Taldeer's "Doom" ability on high-priority targets (like Imperial Heavy Bolter Squads) to amplify damage. Follow up with Rangers' focused fire. Consider using Taldeer's "Mind War" to stun and disorient enemy units, allowing your Rangers to reposition or finish them off.

   • Strategy: Eldar are fragile. Always prioritize micro-managing your units to keep them out of sustained fire.

3. Freeing the Captives: You will encounter several Imperial prison camps. Each camp is guarded by a few Imperial Guard squads and a turret. Use your Rangers to snipe the turret from a distance while Taldeer distracts or stuns the guards. Once the guards are eliminated, move any unit near the prison cells to free the captured Eldar Guardians. These will join your forces.

   • Item of Interest: A Spirit Stone Fragment can be found near the second prison camp, granting a temporary boost to Taldeer's energy regeneration.

4. Disabling the Communications Array: The Imperial Communications Array is located at the furthest point of the map, heavily defended by a mix of Imperial Guard and Space Marine units, including a Dreadnought. Your expanded force of Guardians and Rangers will be crucial here.

   • Elite Ability: Activate Taldeer's "Eldritch Storm" on the Dreadnought or clustered enemy infantry to deal massive damage and disrupt their formation.
   • Strategy: Use Guardians to absorb some damage while Rangers focus fire on the Dreadnought. Keep Taldeer safe and continue using her abilities to control the battlefield. Once the defenders are dealt with, simply move any unit onto the Communications Array to disable it.
