Learn about the 7 mission types in warhammer 40000 darktide, including Assassination, Disruption, and Strike, and the 5 zones like Manufactory and Transit Hub.
In warhammer 40000 darktide, there are seven different themed mission types. Players can encounter these mission types across various zones within the game world of Tertium.
Mission Types:
- Assassination: Players fight their way through a map to confront a boss. The boss typically has a shield that must be broken before they can be temporarily defeated. Coordinating burst damage when the boss is down and managing reinforcement hordes are key. An example level is Oubliette.
- Disruption: The objective is to covertly disrupt enemy plans, often by spreading chaos-related items. This mode was available in the October beta. An example map is Relay Station.
- Espionage: This is the only game mode not yet seen at the time of writing. It is the mode required for players to obtain their class's cosmetic helmets. It is likely to appear on the Freight or Dust themed map zones.
- Investigation: Players use the Auspex to scan key items and gather information about events. After scanning several items in an area, players advance to the next phase. Hab Drayko is an example level for this mission type.
- Raid: Players traverse through levels to reach a main objective, which usually involves collecting and storing items before exfiltrating. These items could be ammunition or other lore-related objects. Silo Cluster is an example of this level type.
- Repair: Players are sent to repair key facilities, such as labs, which need to be reactivated before exfiltration. These missions typically involve collecting items, activating processes, and waiting for them to complete. Power Matrix is an example of a repair mission.
- Strike: Players attack specific targets, often in maps where Corrupters (chaos creatures) are present and disrupting Hive facilities. Chasm Logistratum is an example of a Strike-themed mission.
Zones in warhammer 40000 darktide:
Zones are the distinct tilesets created by Fatshark to represent lore-related areas of Tertium. There are intended to be five zones in the game. At the time of writing, most are known:
- Manufactory “Metalfab 36”
- Transit Hub “Chasm Terminus”
- Habzone “The Torrent”
- Freight Port “The Hourglass”
- Dust (currently unreleased in the beta, but previews show a dusty sand area outside the hive city. This will release with the full game.)
Each zone contains several missions, typically 2-4 missions per zone. For example, the Chasm Terminus zone includes the following mission levels and their types:
- Chasm Station - Assassination
- Chasm Logistratum - Strike
- Hab Drayko - Investigation
More missions are expected to be added as the seasons of warhammer 40000 darktide progress.
