Discover the precise location of the Exalt base in XCOM: Enemy Unknown by eliminating potential countries based on in-game clues and strategic deductions. Learn about mission rewards and soldier movement.

This section details how to deduce the location of the Exalt base and provides information on soldier movement speeds.

Exalt Base Location Clues:

  • The Exalt base is not located in the United States, Russia, Canada, France, Argentina, Germany, China, India, Mexico, Japan, Australia, Brazil, Egypt, South Africa, Nigeria, or the United Kingdom.
  • It is not in any country with territory in the Arctic Circle.
  • It is not in Asia, Europe, North America, South America, or Africa.
  • It is not in one of the world's 5 most populous countries.
  • It is not in an English-speaking country.
  • It is not an island country.
  • It is east of the Atlantic Ocean.
  • It is not in one of the two Cold War superpowers.
  • The Exalt base is in a country playable in Civilization 5.

The game will automatically exclude countries if you are unsure about Civilization 5 playable nations.

Dealing with Exalt:

If you have enough clues to narrow down the Exalt base to a single nation, it is recommended to find and assault it. While Exalt missions offer rewards, they provide minimal experience, primarily benefiting the covert operative. Wasting too much time on Exalt can slow overall progress, as the aliens will not wait. It is advised to complete Exalt missions until only one possible nation remains for the base, rather than resorting to save-scumming.

Soldier Movement Speeds:

Soldier movement is generally 7 tiles per action bar (14 when dashing). The 'Not Created Equal' modifier can alter this to 7-9 tiles per action bar (14-18 when dashing).

  • Standard Soldier: 7 tiles per action bar
  • Support with Sprinter: 10 tiles per action bar
  • Soldiers with 'Not Created Equal': 7-9 tiles per action bar
  • Support with max speed from 'Not Created Equal' + Sprinter: 12 tiles per action bar (unconfirmed)
  • MEC with Flamethrower: 7 tiles per action bar (9 with Servomotor upgrade)
  • MEC with Kinetic Strike: 10 tiles per action bar (12 with Servomotor upgrade)
  • SHIV: 10 tiles per action bar (12 with Servomotor upgrade)
  • Hover SHIV: 11 tiles per action bar (13 with Servomotor upgrade)

Alien movement speeds vary by difficulty and are difficult to calculate in single-player. Information regarding XP requirements and hidden potentials affecting movement is not confirmed.
