Complete Part 30 walkthrough for XCOM: Enemy Unknown, detailing engine nodes, reinforcements, and the dangerous Cyberdisk.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
As you advance, expect reinforcements like Thin Men or Chryssalids. MECs are effective against Chryssalids.
  2. 2
At the far end of the room, you'll find guard tower-like structures and an engine node. Be prepared for Thin Man reinforcements and Sectoid squads guarding this node.
  3. 3
Ahead, two doors lead to long corridors connected in the center. Each corridor has an engine node.
  4. 4
The right corridor is the most dangerous. A Cyberdisk hides behind the door at the far right end. It activates when you approach the engine node on the right side, moving through the door to attack, potentially killing an unsuspecting soldier on the first turn. Mutons guard this room, and Thin Men are likely reinforcements.
  5. 5
After clearing the enemies and disabling the engine node in this room, proceed to the final area.
  6. 6
This last area is wide open with two engine nodes. Mutons are the likely guardians. If you dealt with the Cyberdisk, this part should be manageable.
  7. 7
Kill the remaining enemies, disable the engine nodes, and the mission concludes.
Tips
  • Be aware that reinforcements can drop in at any time.
  • The Cyberdisk behind the door in the right corridor is a significant threat; prepare for its immediate attack.
  • MECs are highly effective against Chryssalids.
  • Fusion cores are liberated upon mission completion and can be used for cash, rocket launchers, or aircraft armaments.

DLC (downloadable content — extra missions or items released after launch) Missions:

Portent: This is a target extraction mission where you start on the map and gain control of a survivor. Moving the VIP closer to the extraction point will trigger more reinforcements. You will exclusively face Thin Men. Use your full arsenal to eliminate them before they can attack.

Deluge: This mission appears after your base is attacked and Portent is completed. Your objective is to reach the other side of a dam and inspect a truck before it collapses. You can open valves to relieve pressure and gain more time. You will face Mechtoids, Mutons, and Thin Men. Expect random air-dropped Mutons and four Mechtoids in pairs. Plasma weapons should make the Mechtoids' high health less intimidating. Advance steadily.

Furies: This mission follows Deluge. You have 12 turns to secure or destroy the control room of an abductor class UFO to save people in stasis tanks, as aliens are cutting off life support. Do not destroy or use the stasis tanks as cover (press the cover button to crouch behind walls or objects), as this reduces rewards and can lead to failure. Thin Men are the primary guards, but they are not well-suited for an abductor UFO and are easily eliminated. A Berserker will be airdropped several turns after the alarm, and another will appear on the roof of the control console room. Shivs and MECs are recommended. Advance cautiously and eliminate threats before they can act.

XCOM Enemy Within Missions:

Newfoundland: This mission features an infinite amount of Chryssalids spawning from a whale on a fishing vessel. Your squad starts on a wharf. You will encounter zombies, then Chryssalids emerging from fish. Before boarding the fishing vessel, clear all other aliens. Once on board, you will need your entire squad to manage the constant Chryssalid spawns from the whale. MECs' kinetic strike is useful; otherwise, consider retreating to set up a killing zone outside the vessel. After a period of killing Chryssalids, their production will slow down. Locate the control room on the boat and push the button to call an airstrike. The whale will continue producing Chryssalids, but you should be safe.
