Follow this Anno 1404 guide to successfully develop your Oriental settlement, establish spice production, and meet the needs of your growing population.
Walkthrough
- 1Find a large Oriental island with Spices and Dates fertilities. Settle it with your flagship.
- 2Build 10 Nomad Houses to accommodate 150 Nomads, enabling Spice production.
- 3Establish one Date plantation with a Noria (if in a desert area) to supply Dates.
- 4Once 150 Nomads are settled, build 2-3 Spice plantations. Set up a trade route to deliver Spices to your northern island.
- 5Develop the Oriental island further by establishing production of Wood (using Woodcutters), Stone (using a Stonecutter's hut), and Tools, similar to your northern island.
- 6Aim for a population of at least 440 Nomads (30 houses) to unlock more buildings and gain an honor reward.
- 7Build Milk farms to increase tax income. Ignore their desire for Carpets for now.
- 8Raise taxes from 'Euphoric' to 'Calm' once houses are full.
- 9A Stonecutter's hut is useful for upgrading your warehouse, building Tool chains, and preparing for potential harbor defenses. The Bath house is the only true Oriental building requiring stone, but it's not needed until much later.
Tips
- The Oriental island's Wood production involves Woodcutters cutting palm trees, similar to how they cut pines in the north.
- A Stonecutter's hut on the Oriental island is convenient for various construction needs and future defenses.
- The Bath house is a late-game building that requires stone.
