Boston Liberation

Complete Assassin's Creed III's Boston Liberation side-missions. Learn how to chase thugs, free prisoners, and recruit assassins like Duncan Little and Clipper Wilkinson.

Alright, so you're looking to liberate Boston in Assassin's Creed III? This is where we start tying up loose ends and bringing the colonies under our control. Central Boston is already done as part of the main story by the time you get here, so we'll focus on North and South Boston.

North Boston

In North Boston, you'll run into a couple of types of ambient side-missions. First up, you'll need to chase down and kill three thugs who are hassling merchants. When you spot one, they'll bolt, so you'll need to give chase, keeping an eye out for guards who might try to get in your way. The other mission type is freeing a civilian held captive by guards. Just take out the guards and then interact with the stockade to free the prisoner.

After you've done a few of these liberation missions in North Boston, keep an eye out for Duncan Little. He'll have a mission for you at a contact objective marker. He needs you to take out a templar leader chilling at the end of the northernmost dock. You'll fight your way there with your assassin recruits, and once the templar is down, a cutscene will play. Completing this not only gets you Duncan Little as a recruit but also unlocks the Assassin ability - Bodyguard.

South Boston

South Boston has similar ambient missions. You'll encounter military pursuers on horseback chasing down civilians. You can either chase them down on foot and take them out with your hidden blades, or, if you've got a clear shot, just shoot them from a distance. The other mission involves freeing conscripted prisoners. You'll find groups of guards escorting a couple of friendlies; your job is to take out the guards and free the conscripts.

Once you've done enough of these side-missions in South Boston, look for Clipper Wilkinson. He'll be sitting on a bench near a house marked with a liberation objective marker. He's got a mission for you to eliminate a templar leader. This one's pretty straightforward: when the mission starts, the templar is right in front of you. Just open your assassin moves wheel, select the marksman ability, and target him. Your recruits will take him out with a snipe, and a cutscene will wrap things up. This mission recruits Clipper Wilkinson and unlocks the Assassin ability - Marksman.
