Easy Strategies: Den Defense Minigame

Learn easy strategies for the Den Defense minigame in Assassin's Creed Revelations. Master unit placement, barricades, and Ezio's role to protect your Assassin Dens from Templar assaults.

The Den Defense minigame in Assassin's Creed Revelations is introduced in Sequence 2 and can become challenging in later stages. When your Templar awareness is maxed out (red bar), Templars will assault your liberated Assassin Dens. The Den's map icon will flash yellow, indicating an assault. You won't lose the Den unless you fail the defense, but Templars will increase in the area, manning guard posts with riflemen and making the area restricted. To defend, approach the Den's doorway while Anonymous and use Assassin Signals and ranged attacks to keep Templars away.

The key to mastering Den Defense is the strategic placement of your ally Assassins.

Walkthrough:

1. Start with Assassin Leaders: Place a few Assassin Leaders on rooftops first. They generate Morale, which is needed to deploy more units. They also unlock rooftop placement for other units and defend your ranged troops from close-range Templars.
2. Deploy Crossbowmen: Place a couple of Crossbowmen early on, ideally in the middle of the street. This provides a balance between attacking the Templar force sooner and staying far enough back to prevent them from slipping through.
3. Prioritize Riflemen: Get as many Riflemen as possible onto the rooftops, aiming for at least two on every rooftop before the final wave. Riflemen fire slower than Crossbowmen but deal armor-piercing damage, making them effective against tough final wave enemies and siege engines.
4. Utilize Barricades: Use basic level 1 Barricades along the street to stall siege engines. When a Barricade is about to be destroyed, you can upgrade it to restore its health, rather than just increasing durability between waves.
5. Position Caltrop Bombers: Place Caltrop Bomber Assassins near the end of the street where Templars approach to slow down enemy waves.
6. Ezio's Role: On later Sequences, Templars will deploy rooftop units. Use your Wrist Gun to eliminate them. You can also use it to direct your allies' fire, prioritizing any Templar ranged attackers.
7. Cannon Shot: A single cannon shot (L2/LT) can decimate a wave if well-placed. Holding the button charges a 3-shot barrage. However, using the cannon significantly reduces your score and rewards (rare bomb ingredients, Assassin experience, money) and prevents the
