An overview of Call of Duty: WWII's Multiplayer, detailing the different Divisions (Infantry, Airborne, Armored, Mountain) and offering general tips for new players.

Perhaps the biggest draw of the Call of Duty games is the multiplayer. The story campaigns tend to be well crafted, but ultimately fairly short. It is the multiplayer that keeps players returning, and the Multiplayer mode in Call of Duty: WWII is very likely to continue that trend. There are some new elements here and some clever new ideas, but for the most part this is largely the same multiplayer experience people have fallen in love with for a decade now. There are plenty of modes and customization options here to keep people playing for a long, long time.

This section will provide more of an overview for the Multiplayer than and in depth guide to boost your skills, although some general advice and tips will be provided. For the Multiplayer, it is really hard for a guide to provide any sort of significant help, especially for a game like this that is receiving patches and updates constantly right now. If you are looking for help with the multiplayer, I highly recommend checking out Twitch. There are a ton of high quality CoD streamers out there, and you'll be able to pick up current and relevant tips just by watching them play. There were several people I watched frequently while I was trying to get good at the multiplayer, and even though I'm still bad it definitely helped some. Watch streamers, play with your friends, and really, just have fun with it.

The most important things to know about the Multiplayer are detailed below.

Divisions

The first thing you do upon starting your multiplayer career is choose a division. This is not permanent, but there are some notable differences between all the divisions, including special weapons and perks you earn by playing in the division long enough. It is possible to select different divisions at the load out screen, which will be detailed in a later section. The current divisions are listed below. It is worth noting that as of April 10, 2018 that there will be some major changes coming to some of the divisions, with more possible to follow. So depending on when you're reading this some information might be outdated.

Infantry

This is sort of the all purpose division that is great for beginners and veterans alike. If you're new to the series, this is a good starting point because it really is the all purpose division that is good both at mid range and close up. The Rifle Bayonet perk allows you to attach a bayonet to all rifles (even ones you've picked up) and use a bayonet charge on nearby enemies for massive damage.

  • Infantry class perks (original) - Rifle bayonet (Level 1), Additional primary attachment (Level 2), Extra magazines (Level 3), Move faster when aiming down sights (Level 4)
  • Infantry prestige perks - SVT-40 and Scoped Basic Training (Prestige 1), Epic Infantry Prestige 2 Calling Card (Prestige 2), Epic US Infantry II Uniform (Prestige 3), Epic SVT-40 (Prestige 4)
  • Infantry class perks (April 2018 update) - Additional primary attachment (Level 1), Second pistol attachment and faster weapon swap (Level 2), Less sway while aiming (Level 3), Move faster while aiming (Level 4)

Airborne

The Airborne division is all about movement, and the class has been optimized for run and gunning. You'll have some quick fire weapons and are built to get the jump on your opponents, but you do not fair as well in close quarter combat as some of the other divisions. Keep moving and keep your finger on the trigger as you'll want to start raining bullets as soon as you have an enemy in your sights.

  • Airborne class perks (original) - Submachine gun suppressor (Level 1), Longer sprint distances (Level 2), Fast climb speed over obstacles (Level 3), Increased sprint speed (Level 4)
  • Airborne prestige perks - MP-40 and Energetic Basic Training (Prestige 1), Airborne Prestige 2 Calling Card (Prestige 2), US Paratrooper II Uniform (Prestige 3), DO-RE-MI MP-40 Variant (Prestige 4)
  • Airborne class perks (April 2018 update) - Fire guns while sprinting and diving (Level 1), Reload while sprinting (Level 2), Faster climb speed over obstacles and no fall damage (Level 3), Increased sprint speed (Level 4)

Armored

This is the up close and person combat class, and is great for the objective based games. If you need someone to lay down suppressive fire or hold down a spot on the map, the Armored division is the division to do it. The light machine gun seems made to the "defend this position" objectives in war, but the trade off here is that the class is not particularly versatile and needs an experience player to be competitive at some of the other modes. The damage reduction from fire and explosions this class receives means your opponent will have to attack you directly, something that definitely will work in your favor.

  • Armored class perks (original) - Light machine gun bipod (Level 1), Immune to Shellshock and Tactical grenades (Level 2), Reduced damage from fire (Level 3), Reduced damage from explosions (Level 4)
  • Armored prestige perks - MG 42 and Hunker Basic Training (Prestige 1), Armored Prestige 2 Calling Card (Prestige 2), Epic Desert Rat II Uniform (Prestige 3), Epic MG-42 Variant (Prestige 4)
  • Armored class perks (April 2018 update) - Much higher resistance to fire and explosive damage (Level 1), Immune to Shellshock and Tactical equipment (Level 2), Increased bullet penetration through surfaces (Level 3), Greatly reduced flinch upon being shot (Level 4)

Mountain

This is the sniping division, so if you're the kind of guy that likes to hang back and pick off your opponents from afar, this is the class for you. Their sniper rifle is essentially a one hit kill above the waist and is extremely powerful for fighting back enemy attacks or just making your way through their ranks. This class is obviously the worst in close combat though, and snipers tend to get maligned in objective based matches because THEY WILL NOT MOVE TO THE OBJECTIVE MOVE JUST MOVE WE NEED YOU TO HELP DEFEND THIS POINT WHAT ARE YOU EVEN DOIN
