Your friend is here to help you beat The Destroyer in Darksiders! Learn the boss's attacks, phases, and strategies to emerge victorious.

Alright, so you've made it to the big showdown with The Destroyer. Don't sweat it, I'll walk you through this. First things first, you need to head over to Anvil's Ford and find Ulthane's Forge. Chat with him, and after a little story bit, he'll hook you up with the Armageddon Blade. Pretty cool, right?

Once you've got that shiny new blade, use the nearest Vulgrim Location to zip back to Azrael in Leviathan's Drift. Have a quick word with him, and then it's time to face The Destroyer.

Boss: The Destroyer

This fight is split into two main parts, and he's got some nasty tricks up his sleeve in both. Let's break down what he throws at you:

  • Swipe (Dragon Form): He'll lash out with his claws from a distance.
  • Charge (Dragon Form): When he's on the ground, he'll periodically charge right at you. Stay on Ruin and keep dashing to avoid this.
  • Ground Slam (Dragon Form): After you've landed a few hits, he might leap up and try to crush you. Dash out of the way!
  • Melee Swings (Angel Form): In his angel form, he'll unleash a flurry of sword attacks, sometimes chaining them into a combo that can juggle you. There's a small opening to attack him after he finishes his sequence.
  • Teleport (Angel Form): He can vanish and reappear to ambush you. As soon as you see him disappear, start dashing to dodge his reappearance attack.
  • Throw Rocks (Angel Form): He'll fly around the edge of the arena and hurl rocks. A well-timed dash will get you out of the way.

Combat Strategy:

Phase 1: Dragon Form

So, in this first phase, he's in his dragon form, just circling the arena and swiping. He'll also charge at you. Your best bet is to hop on Ruin and chase him down. Land a few hits from horseback, and he should stumble. That's your cue! Quickly get off Ruin and go to town on his belly until he gets back up. Then, jump back on Ruin.

He'll eventually try to do that ground pound attack we talked about. When he leaps into the air, just keep mashing that dash button until he lands. You'll be safe.

Just keep repeating that cycle of knocking him down, wailing on him, and then getting back on Ruin. Eventually, he'll charge straight at you, and you'll see an action button prompt. Hit it to trigger a cutscene and move on to the next phase.

Phase 2: Angel Form

Now he's in his angel form, walking around on two legs with that huge sword. He's got some sweeping horizontal slashes, an overhead smash, and he can even throw energy blasts along the ground. Honestly, everything is dodgeable, but his attack range is pretty big, so timing is key here. You'll need to be quick – dash in, get a few hits in, and then retreat.

After you've landed enough hits, you'll get into a quick sword duel. Just mash the button that pops up in the middle of the screen. Winning these duels does a good chunk of damage.

When he takes more damage, he'll fly out of the arena and start chucking those rocks at you. Remember to dash to the sides to avoid them. Once he lands back on the platform, he'll pull out those new moves: the teleport ambush and that nasty uppercut that can lead to a juggle combo. The trick here is to just keep repeating what you've been doing: avoid his attacks and get your hits in whenever you see an opening.

You'll need to win three of those blade duels to finally take him down. After that, you get to watch the ending!
