The Rope Dart in Dynasty Warriors: Origins is a potent weapon, particularly effective in one-on-one duels and duels, though less so against large armies. Its unique mechanic allows you to pull yourself to an officer after hitting them with a Strong attack, but this can be risky when facing multiple opponents.

While the weapon has a unique pull-in mechanic tied to the evade button, it's easy to accidentally trigger it and get surrounded. Fortunately, its most effective combos don't heavily rely on this feature.

Effective Combo Strategy

The core combo focuses on launching the enemy and then repeatedly using a jump + Strong attack. This method is quick, efficient, provides bravery, and maximizes damage output. The general sequence is:

1. Normal attack (Nx1) if no parry or counter occurs.
2. Hold block + Strong attack to launch the enemy.
3. Evade to pull yourself to the airborne officer (optional: quick normal attacks on the way up).
4. Strong attack to land.
5. Activate Blaze Thorn here to maximize its uptime.
6. Jump then repeat with Strong attack.

After an enemy's fortitude is depleted, you can typically land 4-5 jump + Strong attacks before they recover. The optional air normal attack can add a few hits but might slightly reduce the effectiveness of subsequent jump + Strong attacks.

Most Useful Battle Arts

• Blazing Thorn: Essential for boosting damage by 45%. The base damage of the Rope Dart is low, making this BA almost mandatory. Activate it before entering Rage mode for massive damage.
• Thornburst: A good chase Battle Art, useful if other options aren't available.
• Lunar Ascension: A 1-cost BA that offers damage reduction and launches you airborne for follow-up Strong attacks. Excellent for dealing with large groups and finishing off multiple officers.
• Sp. Spiteful Thorn: Offers more fortitude damage than Powershot, with slightly less range.
• Moonrend: A flashy air-based BA for extending combos, but has a long animation and cannot be evaded. Best used in 1v1 scenarios.
• Lunar Maelstrom: The Rope Dart's ultimate BA. It's a melee art without time slowdown or damage reduction, making it risky against large armies but viable in 1v1.
• Emberbloom: Throws explosive darts. While theoretically useful, its high 3-cost and the necessity of Blazing Thorn make it difficult to justify.
• Talon of the Hawk: Invaluable for 1v1 and duels, as it interrupts all attacks, including RED attacks, and instantly makes officers vulnerable by canceling their Super Armor. However, to maintain damage output, Blazing Thorn is still required. Use it to interrupt difficult-to-parry attacks or RED attacks.

• Lunar Ascension (for armies) / Talon of the Hawk (for 1v1)
• Sp. Spiteful Thorn

Weapon Attributes

While rank 8 weapons are functional, custom weapons with damage-focused attributes are ideal:

• Damage to officers +10%
• Damage +10%, Defense –5%
• Extend parry window
• Bravery gain +10%
• Boost damage to Wushu when attacking officers by 10% (10% extra fortitude damage)
• Charge -33% (for charge attack combos) or Assault damage +10%

Rank 8 Weapon: Dancing Luan

Objective: Revolt of Li Jue and Guo Si: Disband Li Jue's large force before Guo Si's large force begins its advance.

This mission can be challenging. Focus on charging Li Jue, potentially meeting Lu Bu first. Dispatching catapults before engaging Li Jue might be effective. Consider bringing Diao Chan as a partner to ensure her survival.
