Black Knight Edredd Boss Guide: Bosses 2

Master the Black Knight Edredd boss fight in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. Learn his location, weaknesses, and effective strategies to overcome his powerful attacks and claim your victory.

Location:

To reach Black Knight Edredd, first progress through Castle Ensis to access Scadu Altus. Exit the castle and travel north to the Highroad Cross site of Grace. Head east, following Moorth Highway south until you reach Fort of Reprimand. A site of Grace, Moorth Highway, South, is located in the hills opposite the fort.

Enter the fort and proceed to the courtyard. You can backstab the enemy here for initial damage, but be cautious as it is a formidable foe. Descend the stairs to the southeast and follow the corridor. Enter the room to the northeast. Choose the northwest door to proceed; the southeast ladder leads to items and additional enemies.

Continue through the northeastern door and follow the corridor. You will encounter two Messmer Soldiers. You can sneak up on the one to your right, but expect an ambush from the left doorway by at least a Spear Messmer. Defeat these enemies, then move towards the doorway and eliminate another Messmer hiding to your right.

Ascend the stairs and head northwest to find a site of Grace. Before collecting nearby items to the left, it's advised to rest at the Grace. Otherwise, you risk being ambushed by the same enemy from the courtyard who will drop from above. If you have ranged attacks, you can engage this enemy from the Grace site.

After resting, enter the building to the southeast to find the boss, Black Knight Edredd.

Stats / Weaknesses:

• Weak to Fire.
• Susceptible to stance breaks with heavier weapons.
• Resistant to Holy damage.
• Vulnerable to magic (except Holy).

Phases:

1. Phase 1: Edredd uses a variety of twin blade combos and a leaping downward stab.
2. Phase 2: Edredd gains golden wings and performs a powerful spinning attack (Aspect of the Crucible: Wings).

Strategy:

• Golden Wings Attack: When Edredd gains golden wings, he will jump and perform a spinning attack. Wait until he is close before rolling through the attack and punishing him with a heavy attack.
• Twin Blade Combos: Edredd's multi-hit combos with his twin blade are highly damaging. It's difficult to block all of them. Back up or roll away from the initial attacks, then block the rest if necessary.
• Leaping Downward Stab: This attack can be avoided by blocking or moving away. Punish him with a heavy attack after he performs it.
• Stance Break: Edredd is susceptible to being flinched and stance-broken, especially with heavier weapons. Focus on charged heavy attacks to break his stance whenever possible.
• Damage Types: Edredd primarily uses Holy or Physical attacks. Equip a Holy resistance item or spell, such as Lord's Divine Fortification or Golden Vow, to mitigate damage.
• Punishing Openings: Attack Edredd after he performs his Wings Ash of War attack and after his leaping stab attack, as he is briefly vulnerable.
• Recovery: If you fail, the Moorth Highway, South site of Grace is conveniently located near the boss room for quick retries.
