Don't get bogged down picking every piece of gear in Elite Dangerous. Learn how to use Auto Setup and make smart additions to your campaign loadout for success.
Hey there, Commander! So, you're looking to get your ship kitted out for the long haul in Elite Dangerous. Honestly, I usually just let the game handle it with the 'Auto Setup' feature. It's way simpler than trying to pick every single module and piece of ammo yourself, and you can always tweak it a bit afterward if you feel like it.
You'll find the 'Auto Setup' tab right at the bottom of the screen, just to the left of the 'Forward' tab. Give that a click!
The big window in the middle of your screen shows all the equipment you're taking into the campaign. Remember, this is everything you'll have for ALL the missions in this particular campaign, so make sure you pack what you need, plus maybe a little extra just in case. Don't want to run out of heat sinks in a sticky situation, right?
Adding items is pretty straightforward. Just highlight what you want from the scroll window on the left side of the screen and hit the 'A' button. If you're adding a gun, hitting 'A' again will add another one, but if you just want more ammo for that gun, hit 'X' instead. To remove something you've already selected, just highlight it in the main center window and hit 'A' again.
Keep an eye on that big percentage bar at the top of the screen. That shows you how full your campaign loadout is. Once it hits 100%, you're maxed out and can't add any more gear. So, choose wisely!
Once you're happy with your soldiers and their equipment, you can move on to the Team Setup screen. Good luck out there, Commander!
